The third-person looter shooter game, The First Descendant, has finally officially launched! Of course, the excitement of gunplay and experience of destroying giant bosses are not complete if you’re not going to play it with your friends. Good news for you, my guy, the game does support Co-op and cross-play (or cross platform). However, the game doesn’t really show how you can do that. That’s why in this guide, I’ll help you out and show you how you can play with your friends, form parties with them or simply invite players.

How To Play With Friends, Invite Players & Form Parties

First, depending on the platform you’re playing on, open the “Social” menu. On PlayStation, this is done via the touchpad. Afterwards, in the “Social” menu, you’ll see your character’s name at the top of the “Local Players” section.

Because The First Descendant supports cross-platform play (PC, Xbox, PlayStation, etc.), you’ll have a unique identifier (a hashtag + characters) attached to your name. For example, mine is ChristianGallos#1234. To add a friend, have them search for their name in the player search: Enter the full name, including the hashtag number, and you’ll see the player.

Now that you’re friends with whoever you’ve added (vice-versa), you can now form parties with them. In order to form a party, simply click the friend you want to form a party with in the “Friends List” section.

Then, select “Party Invitation” (the second option from the top), and you’ll get into a party. However, take note that there will be instances where the game says, “Party is full” even when it isn’t. To fix that, all party members must start in Albion, The Hub World. Moreover, if you’re playing on different servers, the game will automatically load you into the same server shards once you form a party.

Also, keep in mind that you must have the Co-op feature unlocked before forming a party, which is around 10-15 minutes of playtime – It’s right after the tutorial or introduction part of the game.

However, I’m assuming that at some point, there will be a friends list feature, or it might just be an in-game friends list. But for now, this is how you add friends in The First Descendant. You can also invite them to your party directly, but it’s easier to add them as friends first. Once they’re on your in-game friends list, you can invite them to a party anytime.

That’s it! Nice and quick, nice and easy. If you have questions or concerns, feel free to leave them in the comments section below. Up next, why not check out our complete beginner’s guide for The First Descendant? There’s lot of useful that you can read there, especially you’re just starting out!
