Sometimes navigating areas can be tough, especially in RPGs. I remember my first time getting into a big city in Dragon’s Dogma and being so confused on where I was and where I need to go. The older the game gets the much more complex these areas can become, old doom-clone games had maps that would make any cartographer quit their job. JRPGs are quite different though, since they take RPG traiditions quite seriously sometimes and still keep certain old-style game design in their new games. That includes confusing city layouts. In this guide we’ll show you how to get through that damn red gate in Swordmarch City.

What’s with color doors that we as players look at and think “I need to open that.” Is it because of Doom and their colored keycards and doors? Or is it because they just stand out and natural curiosity makes us wonder what’s behind them? Whatever the case may be, this door is quite easy to go through.
First is you need to go to the northwestern tip of the map. There will be a series of ladders there that’ll make you remember that one ladder scene from Metal Gear Solid 3. Once you get on top of those ladders you just skirt around the western side of the city heading south. You’ll encounter some nice sights, ladders and enemies along the way but at the end you should find yourself on the other side of the red gate.
