Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous has just come out a week ago and it’s full of new classes, archetypes, and features that can make even a veteran Kingmaker player feel a bit overwhelmed. Today we are gonna talk about the newly added Cavalier class, where you get to mount an animal into battle and charge your enemies with it. Equipping a lance or a banner, this unit can be a real front liner that can deal a great amount of damage, while giving buffs to its companions.
Cavalier Class Build Guide – Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous
Here are the stats you should have for your character and the race you should use:
- Race = Aasimar (Angelkin)
- STR = 17 (22)
- DEX = 14
- CON = 16
- INT = 8
- WIS = 10
- CHA = 16
- Skills = Persuasion, Mobility (Max)
- Cavalier/Beast Rider (18 Levels), Thug (2 Levels)
- Order = Order of the Cockatrice
- Background = Pickpocket
The idea behind this Cavalier build is that we will want to oneshot most of the enemies with our Charge ability.
If you’re wondering why we have such high Charisma, it’s because we have to choose an Order that gives us Charisma based skills.
Pickpocket background exists to give us that sweet Initiative bonus, so we can always Charge first.
Most of the Archetypes are not that good compared to the base one, if you want one of the archetypes, you’d be better choosing a different class altogether.
Only Beast Rider is a good substitute, since it lets you mount bears or other creatures and almost nothing changes to the build.
We don’t need the Supreme Charge feat since the Spirited Charge feat is a great substitute. Thug on the other hand will help a lot with the Sneak Attack and Evasion.
Since we’ll have a big Persuasion bonus and we’ll get Dazzling Display for free from the Cockastrice Order, Dreadful Carnage will be our greatest weapon.
And if we’re talking about that, let’s see exactly what you should do for each level:
- Cavalier – Mounted Combat, Precise Strike
- Thug
- Cavalier – Spirited Charge
- Thug – Accomplished Sneak Attacker
- Cavalier – Indomitable Mount
- Cavalier
- Cavalier – Weapon Focus (Your Weapon of Preference)
- Cavalier
- Cavalier – Power Attack
- Cavalier
- Cavalier – Dreadful Carnage, Outflank
- Cavalier
- Cavalier – Cleave
- Cavalier
- Cavalier – Cleaving Finish
- Cavalier
- Cavalier – Boon Companion
- Cavalier
- Cavalier – Improved Initiative, Improved Cleaving Finish, Back to Back
- Cavalier
With this build, you will be pretty powerful from the start, and at the end, you’ll be a vital part of the team.

Can we have a horse build please? My horse is kinda s*it.
Truth is, horses are, for a lack of a better word, bad in this game.
What mythic path would be best for this
