In Role Playing Games there’s always a lot of different and unique characters that you’ll see, bar the generic sea of villagers, towns people, evil grunts and skeletons that you’ll see. Sometimes these characters can offer different playstyles and synergies for your party and for the player to experiment on. Sometimes you find that perfect character you want for your party, or a cool one that you want to keep and try out and that’s always a great way to motivate the player. This also keeps the game more dynamic as new additions to the party changes the whole playthrough and in Across the Obelisk you can experience this. In this Zek guide we’ll show you how to unlock and use the character.
Zek Guide For Across The Obelisk
There are a lot of characters you can unlock in Across the Obelisk, and Zek is one of them. Zek is a mage type character that focuses on increasing Dark stacks and dealing damage. To unlock him is quite simple, all you need to do is head to the center road in Act 1. There you’ll see the scenario “A grave on the road.” You need to pick the [Profane] choice to proceed, this will give you a key that you’ll use later.
Go through and finish Act 1 and at the end choose the blue portal.
At the blue portal is the Sewer Outlet, which you can open with the key you found earlier. This will then unlock Zek.
As you can see from the image Below Zek is a Warlock, a mage type character. His special Innate Trait is Pestilent which gives him a stack of Dark in return for giving every enemy a stack of dark as well at the start of battle. Dark decreases shadow resistance by 1% every stack, and when it reaches 25 stacks it explodes, dealing 2 points of damage each stack.
The optimal build for Zek may vary, but focusing on survivability by taking as much defensive perks as possible while also maximizing your energy.
What’s important is in the Mystical tab where you have to choose the perks that increase and maximize dark stacks and shadow damage.
For the cards here are the recommended cards you can get for Zek:
- Pestilence
- Malicious Eye – Upgrade to give dark stacks
- Curse of Exhaustion – Upgrade to burn
- Dark Pact – Upgrade to burn
- Necrotic Burst – Upgrade to Zero Cost
Just a reminder that you need to give your healer the ability to remove Dark Stacks like Ray of Hope since Zek will get dark stacks as well that you need to remove.
For Items, any item that increases shadow damage or dark stacks is a must. Items like the Shadow Orb or Voodoo Doll are great picks. There aren’t really any pets that go well with Zek so choose any pet you like.
