Fighting in a party is fun. No one wants to be alone in an MMO, as the game is not designed to be played solo. Final Fantasy XIV reminds you from time to time that this is an MMO, not a single player game, by making you go through dungeons with other people, in hopes that you realize that maybe playing an MMO solo is not a good idea. However, what if you want to be a lone wolf? Well, playing solo can lead to some pretty epic moments, as well as a cool reputation of being a solo player.

Items

Seeing as you will be fighting an entire tower full of mobs alone, you will not be able to count on other party members to heal you. Even if you are a Healer, you can’t focus on attacking as much as you will be too busy healing yourself. That is why you need to have a lot of consumables.

From Potion to X-Potion to Sustaining to Food, you will need to stock up on anything that will put your health back up, as you have no one to heal you when you fight against 50 floors of enemies.

Equipment

For your equipment, you won’t really need to worry much about that. When you go into the tower, you will find some silver Treasure Coffers. These will mostly contain Aetherpool, which will essentially bring your weapons and armor up levels, up to a maximum level of 99.

Jobs

You can take any job into the tower, as all jobs are capable of going through the whole tower. But you will notice that some jobs will struggle at the 100th floor, and some even at the 50th floor. If you want to take on the tower with a strong job, then you should go with the following:

  • Machinist
  • Red Mage
  • Reaper
  • Summoner

The Machinist is the best choice as you can attack from a far away range, effectively keeping yourself safe from melee enemies. It also has the highest DPS capability for the tower. But again, you can bring any job you want. Just remember that you can switch tot these jobs for much better results.

Huge thanks to The Nasty Namazu for the information on how to go solo in the tower. If you want to learn more on how to solo the tower, you can check out his YouTube video that talks about more of the mechanics of the tower and what you need to do: FFXIV PoTD Guide – How To Solo Floors 1 to 50

He's also a huge fan of superhero media like Marvel and DC, so he's practically played games like Spider-Man and the Batman Arkham games. He's also into multiplayer games that strike his fancy, specifically games like Call of Duty and Fortnite. Most especially Fortnite since he can play as different Marvel and DC characters in a battle royale against other famous and iconic characters.
