Asides from levels, light cones, warping for more eidolons, wearing your Honkai: Star Rail characters the right relics is another system to make them stronger. The relics are similar to how artifacts work in Genshin Impact, but with slight differences. There are six parts instead of five and the Planar Ornaments are different from the other four.
Here are how you can grind for more Planar Spheres & Link Ropes to find the right set for your characters. If you’re not sure how domains work, you might want to start from the basics with this guide for one of the earliest domains in the game, Bud of Memories.
Where to Find Planar Spheres & Link Ropes
Relics in Honkai: Star Rail functions similarly as Genshin Impact as said before. The head, hand, foot, and body form a 4-pc set. You can usually grind these relics from Calyxes in the open world by pressing F4 on your shortcut to open your Survival Index and accessing the Cavern of Corrosion tab. You can fast travel to the said domains.
Game Description for Planar Ornaments:
Artificial relics made in imitation to the Fragmentum’s principles. They can offer various special stat boosts to a character, and can provide extra buffs when worn as a set. You can obtain Planar Ornaments by challenging the Simulated Universe.
Planar Spheres & Link Ropes are unique relics. As you can see below, with just 2-pc at blue rarity level, they provide almost the same buffs as the purple rarity 4-pc does. But instead of the Cavern of Corrosion, you can only grind them in the Simulated Universe in Herta’s Office. After finishing World 2, you may also be introduced to a free set.
You can start grinding for Planar Ornaments after clearing World 3. The higher the difficulty, the better the reward and with every first clear on each difficulty, you get a full-set for free. Here are just some of the examples of currently available sets. At 5-star/gold rarity, you can max them further to level 15.
Further into the game when you’re Trailblazer Level 40, you’ll unlock a function called Relic Synthesis & Self-Modeling Resin. Relic Synthesis is similar to the Mystic Offering system in Genshin. You scrap your relics to make a new one, but instead of 3, Honkai: Star Rail requires ten. And the stats are still going to be random, so you may just throw in 10 average or below-average relics for a dud.
This makes this system not worth it, considering the grind for these relics are already hard enough. Instead of converting them into another relic, you could just use them as fodders to level up your relics because grinding for fodders to raise 8 characters (for Forgotten Hall) can be tedious.
To be able to get the stats that you want, you need to use the Self-Remodeling Resin which will let you pick the main stat, so yes, the substats can still be complete crap if you’re unlucky. Not to mention that even though the resin can be grinded for free, they can be pretty hard to get.
TL;DR: To get the Planar Ornaments set, your best option is to grind on Herta’s Simulated Universe. The higher the difficulty you choose, the greater your chances of obtaining a five-star set. Additionally, clearing each new difficulty level will earn you a free set.
