Dinkum is a game of crafting, farming and survival all combined that takes place in the land down under. Upon arriving in your island, you will be presented with a lot of stuff to do. Worry not, this beginners guide to Dinkum will help you on your feet to make this island thrive.

Complete Beginners Guide – Dinkum

Once you are done customizing your character, you will then head to the Island which will start your journey. Fletch will guide you most of the way in terms of what you should do and where to get things.

But here’s a simplified version of the things you should take note of in Dinkum.

Ask a friend

Dinkum is so much easier and way more fun if you ask a friend to play with you. Having a friend to explore the huge world of Dinkum will make your exploration so much easier, not to mention the tons of fun you will get.

This is rather important because you will grow significantly faster in Dinkum with some help. Hunting for meat? tag-team the wombat! Gathering resources? divide the work!

Tent placement

Upon arriving, Fletch will give you a Base Tent which is the first building to set up your base. You arrive on the east part of the island, this is probably where the game wants you to set up your base.

You should first look around the island and decide whether that is a good place to set up base or are there too many enemies (kangaroo, crocs, etc.) nearby.

Which License to get?

Licenses allow you to use the tools in the game and progress further. License is acquired from Fletch by exchanging some currency you obtained from daily missions.

In terms of licenses, what you should get early are the Mining and Hunting License. This will get you on your feet and makes you able to defend yourself because of the weapon Hunting License give, not to mention the meat for food and the Dinks you will get from selling them!

Get busy getting money (Dinks)

The easiest way to get Dinks in the early stage of the game is to scavenge seashells on the beach. They don’t really worth much but they will get you on your feet plus, they are very easy to do.

Other than that, equip your Bug Net for some critters and insects, especially Butterflies. Additionally, selling cooked meat to John also gives a decent number of Dinks!

Hope this beginners guide helps you get started in Dinkum!
