Wait, what? You can actually see the ending to Honkai: Star Rail now? Yes. There’s an alternate bad ending to the game already available from early on. As a mysterious individual that was linked to the Stellaron Hunter, it seems to be a given for you to join the Astrall Express to explore the universe and its multiverse, figuring out your story and saving other planets and ships on your way. Or turning off some random bots when you’re bored.
But what if you’ve already felt at home at the Herta’s Space Station, fearing the unknown of the vast outerspace? Here’s how you can get your alternate ending in the game.
How to Get Secret Bad Ending
The options came out after you finish beating the Doomsday Beast at Herta’s Space Station. The genius had expressed her interest in your body for being able to house the Stellaron. But Himeko and co. invited you over to the Astral Express, to become part of the Nameless that followed in Aeon Akivili steps to explore the universe and save the world(s).
But while speaking to Herta, you will notice options that suggest you can choose not to leave. And yes, they actually work. Pick “I really want to stay.” In reaction, Herta’s going to say that you’re weird, but you can always consult with Asta and Himeko about your options because you’re your own people.
Now go to Asta in the Master Control Zone and among the options, pick “Herta says I can stay.” She warns you that Herta is selfish and won’t think about you and to leave her.
Finally, meet up with Himeko in front of the Express. You’ll notice there are two options that’ll really determine your route. The first one is the option that’ll let you go through the storyline as usual where you board and starts traveling with those onboard.
But this time, pick “I’ve made up my mind. I’ll stay.” Himeko will have reservations but she’ll respect your decision. She promises that she’ll come back to visit you again.
And that’s it! The Astral Express leaves you behind and continue their journey.
The story goes that while you stay, Herta soon loses interest in you and your Stellaron, leaving you drifting aimlessly on the Space Station. You do get a researcher job later on and the Astra Express does visit from time to time.
But at some point, they stopped returning. The “final end” seemed to suggest that the Express and Stellaron Hunters perished. Which means everyone probably died, including Himeko (again). It leaves you wondering if you could’ve changed things if you’d come with them.
It’s a bad ending all right, but all in all, Honkai: Star Rail making this option feasible is just a fun Easter Egg that leaves you wanting to go back to the intended plotline where you continue exploring the universe.
The end.
