Hoyoverse really makes quests for their games that keeps you on your toes. Not only are they fun and enjoyable with some interesting stories, but they also give rewards all the time. Sometimes you even get multiple rewards in one quest line which makes questing viable and a must in their games.
Their newest game is no different. Since in Honkai Star Rail, you can see the same design philosophy. In this guide, we’ll show you how to complete the Survival Wisdom Guide and get some nice loot in the end!
Survival Wisdom Guide
The Survival Wisdom quest in Honkai Star Rail involves the character Sampo. As usual he’s going to trick us in doing some menial work, the good thing about it is that it turns into a treasure hunt in the end!
Steps in Doing the Survival Wisdom Side Quest:
- Read Message from Sampo;
- Go to Jarilo-VI, Great Mine and meet him;
- Find his lost tools;
- Use the Treasure Map and find the treasure;
- Use the Real Treasure Map and find the Real Treasure!
Starting the Side Quest
The side quest starts once Sampo gives you a text message. You can choose any dialogue choices and at the end you’ll start the side quest. You’ll then need to go to Sampo, he’s in the Great Mine to the south. You can take the Main Shaft Fast Travel point just next him.
Finding Sampo’s Tools
After talking to Sampo he’ll ask you to find his lost mining tools. The first set of tools is actually just next to him, which makes you question why he needs your help. You can use the image above for reference, it’s just on top of a rusty I-beam.
The item you’ll get is the Thermal-Powered Mechanical Mining Pick.
The next set of tools is to the east, right where the path forks, you’ll see the NPC below. When getting close to the NPC they’ll talk to you and a fight starts. After you defeat the enemies, you’ll get the next set of tools which is the Customized Pink Safety Helmet.
Treasure Map
Once you give both tools back to Sampo he’ll give you a Treasure map. It’ll be automatically placed in your inventory. You can either check your inventory and use the item there or use the Function Button to the lower right of the screen.
Whatever you choose you’ll see the image below. That’s the treasure map and it shows where the treasure is marked by an X.
Below is an image that shows you where the treasure is in on the map. You can take the Overlook Fast Travel point to get close to the area and just head northwest.
Stick to the southern wall and there you’ll find some tents. In the middle of a couple of tents you’ll find an interactable shiny spot shown below.
The item you’ll get is an Anti-Dust Mask, not really much of a Treasure since it’s one of Sampo’s tools! You can then go back to Sampo and give him the last tool.
Real Treasure Map
The map is the same as before in terms of usage, you can either check the inventory or use the Function Button. Shown below is what you’ll see and if you haven’t noticed it’s actually close to the first “Treasure.”
Once you give Sampo the Mask he’ll give you the Real Treasure Map. The quest Survival Wisdom is actually finished at this point, but we won’t skip on some good loot!
You can use the Overlook Fast Travel Point again to go to that location. Just head northwest sticking to the northern wall.
There you’ll find another interactable shiny spot and once you investigate it a Precious Chest will appear! Open the chest and you’ll get some Shields, upgrade materials, Trailblazer EXP and even Stellar Jade!
That’s how you do the Survival Wisdom side quest in Honkai Star Rail. It’s one of Sampo’s many tricks but at least we get some real treasure in the end!
