Starfield’s extensive ship building systems let you lose hours crafting the perfect vessel. Once it’s built though, the game doesn’t give you many choices in the way of decor. Here are a few tips to make things a little cozier.

The easiest way to decorate inside of your ship is to change the outside. Keep in mind, building doesn’t only affect the layout. Different module manufacturer’s each have their own kind of style or vibe. Experiment with each one to see which best suits your aesthetic.

There’s a total of eight different manufacturers to play with: Deimos, Horizon Defense, Nova Galactic, Slayton Aerospace, Dogstar, Light Scythe, Reladyne and Stroud Eklund. It’s always worth stopping at your local Ship Services to see what’s they have to offer.

What’s a home without a cabinet full of guns? One of the easiest ways to decorate ships in Starfield is to build an armory to show off some your best gear. This includes weapon cases and mannequins to display armour

You can purchase an armoury module at any major port’s Ship Services, within the settled systems.The Nova Galactic Armoury module specifically houses multiple weapon cases, as well as two mannequins, two weapon racks and further storage.

While you can’t change the internal fixtures once they’re built. And you technically can’t decorate inside your ship – all is not lost. There’s a sneaky workaround that will still allow you to decorate.

Backpack item in Starfield

If there’s something tucked away in your backpack that you’d rather have on display, just drop it. Once you’ve dumped it on the floor (of your ship), pick it back up while holding A (or E for PC). This lets you put almost any item inside your ship.

For style points, you can even use the left trigger or shift key along with directional controls to rotate and reorientate an object. This allows you to make sure things are the right way up (or not, if you want to be a bit more abstract about it).
