Xbox Gamepass is one the best deals that gamers can obtain. The subscription allows you to play the entire library of games on it, with day-one exclusives like Starfield also available to you. The best part is that you do not even need an Xbox since this is available on Windows devices as well.
Sometimes, it might be possible that the Game Pass games are not launching due to some underlying issue. This guide will help you troubleshoot this issue with a few steps that should allow you to resolve the issue.
How To Fix Games Not Launching
I’ll be providing 3 possible solutions that you can try to fix this Gamepass issue. Make sure to try them one-by-one and see if they work for you.
Disabling Windows Firewall
The most common issue that can prevent Gamepass games from launching is the Windows Firewall. At times, it prevents these games from launching if you are not on a secure network connection, such as those in public spaces.
We recommend disabling the firewall temporarily using the Windows Security settings. Search for Windows Security in your search bar and select the Firewall & Network Protection tab. Inside it, you should see different firewalls for the networks that you may use, as seen in the image above.
Depending on which network you are using, select it and disable the firewall. Once done, you can try launching the game again to see if that was the issue.
Updating Drivers
Another common issue that prevents games from launching is outdated drivers for both Windows and your Graphics Card. For updating your graphics drivers, you will need to open the required app depending on which GPU you use.
For Nvidia users, this will be the Geforce Experience application. While for AMD users, this will be the Radeon Control Panel. In our case, we have an Nvidia GPU, so we checked for the driver using the Geforce application.
After updating your GPU drivers, you might want to consider updating and installing any Windows updates. For this, open Settings and select the Windows Update tab. If there are any pending updates showing up, go ahead and install them.
Repairing Xbox Application
If the methods previously mentioned did not work, you might want to try to repair the Xbox Application. For this, open Settings again and select the App tab. Inside this tab, select the Installed Apps option to view the complete list of applications on your device.
Search for the Xbox application here as shown in the image above, and it should appear. Now, click on the three dots that appear next to the application’s size. This will open a dropdown menu with a couple of options. Select the Advanced Options choice here to proceed.
Inside the Advanced Menu, scroll down, and you should see a Reset section. Choose the Repair option here to repair the app. This should take a few seconds, and you can then check if your application is working or not.
We hope that this guide was helpful to you in fixing your Gamepass Games. Make sure that the game you are trying to play is updated as well before you try to launch it. Let us know in the comments below if you have any questions or suggestions for future content.
