As with most hardcore survival game, Nightingale is about enjoying the process, exploration of the unknown, and fighting dangerous creatures. It is still in its Early Access stage, but with all of the mechanics already well fleshed out.
Some people dabble in building their dream castle while others like to play it lowkey and just enjoy the atmosphere. These are progression tips not just so you can get the best gears and conquer the world, but to also enjoy every aspect of Nightingale.
Best Progression Tips & Tricks
Nightingale is very complex and sets itself uniquely apart from other games using the card mechanic. But you may have seen many, many people don’t even get to enjoy the game fully and leave before they even get to see the cards in play.
A huge majority of people don’t even known what they’re doing. Which is why this is our first tips.
Read Your Journal
Everyone has a guidebook and under the journal, explanation on what they need and where to find it. But if you’re ever lost, don’t worry, we’ve got your back. Check out our Nightingale tag for the guide to whatever you need in the game.
Essences Are Key
You may have been picking up everything you see. And as you play, you progressively pick up less rocks and berries. But what you cannot stop picking up are the Essences.
There are several tiers of Essences and grinding them will be one of the unique routine you have in Nightingale. Essences are rich in points of interest. Higher power level drops higher tier essences. All of them give some.
Some of them are about building, some of them like the Bastilles have specific challenges, and others need you to clear the enemies from the area.
Crafting
This is where things get super complicated. Grab some coffee, sit back, and relax.
Food: The most basic crafting in the game is making food. This is also the first thing you’re told to do in the tutorial. Throughout the game, never sleep on cooking! They give all kinds of boosts, heals, can recover your Stamina. Different ingredients will give different variables, so it’s great to taste test on which you like the most.
Schematics: To even begin crafting, you need to unlock Schematics of specific workstation. Whether that’s the Simple or Refined version, unlocking them all require essences.
Stats: The crafting system is more detailed in Nightingale where different types of gems, bones, or fishes will affect the final product. For example, you can see the difference between Hollow Metal and Bombardier Ingots. The latter is better for ranged build and the former is for stealth build.
When in doubt, just make sure to read the result of the equipment that you’re crafting with these ingots. You can even add these stats to your mining pickaxes and the simplest of gears to make them more durable and effective.
Tips: Upgrade your Backpack with Ecumbrance and Durability stats. This is going to let you carry more and use it longer before it needs repairing. But if you ever find a better backpack you can craft with a new material, don’t hold back!
Ammo: Different ammos perform differently depending on the realm, enemies, and your weapon. Poison bullets, for example, are for those who like to save up on bullets while dealing DoT ticks. While ammos with fire characteristics are good for enemies like the Eoten. Read up more about guns and ammos here!
Building
Do you need a house? Yes. Unlike games like Sons of the Forest where you can just permanently chug yourself full of Energy Drinks or Rust where you min-max space for farming or storage – In Nightingale, when placing a structure, it will tell you the Traits it gets from being placed where it is.
A simple, rectangular home with a roof on top will help give your workstations simple, but useful boosts especially early game. It’ll take longer since you’ll need to chop some trees, but it’s worth it.
Augmentation: You won’t get to explore much with this in the early game. But the building system in Nightingale adds the Augmentation system. In Asian words, this is the Feng Shui of Nightingale where you want to position your working tables, beds, at the right place.
We all know that building a decent home and arranging our furniture doesn’t really benefit us in anyway in most survival games. But not in Nightingale. You better place that campfire near the bed for that extra coziness.
Learn About the Cards
Nightingale has a very long tutorial before you could craft more realms and explore more unique areas. While it does allow you to experience each aspect of the game thoroughly, it does get a little tedious. But trust the process.
Major Realm Cards are the main ways you’re going to generate different realm, combined with Biome Cards. And then, there are Minor cards that will make your realm exploration unique and have effects.
Don’t Neglect Your Recruit!
You can give your recruits better weapon and armors. Obviously the better their equip, the more they can do for you, whether that’s damage or harvesting.
And that’s all the progression tips we want to let you Nightingale lovers know so you can enjoy the game at its best. Share with fellow players some itty-bitty neat facts you’ve learned down below in the comment section!
