It comes as no surprise that so many gamers are looking forward to the Early Access release of Nightingale. Not only do you have an incredible survival game with rich world-building, but you can also affect the realm in all sorts of crazy ways.
The fact that you can invite friends and play coop is just icing in the double chocolate sundae that is Nightingale. That being said, it’s always a good idea to start with the basics, and in this case, we’ll learn how to give our ever-ready NPC companion a simple task.
How To Give An NPC Helper A Task
Nightingale is all about crafting and fighting tooth and nail to survive the Fae wilds. As such, you’ll need all the help you can get! Typically, when you first recruit your bright-eyed companion, they’ll come equipped with either a Simple Wood Axe or a Makeshift Mining Pick. To keep things simple, it’s either an axe or a pickaxe.
Aside from being a handy weapon when things get dicey, the purpose of the axe is to chop down trees, while the pickaxe is all about mining stone. Take note that the NPC companion will do this automatically based on the weapon/too they have equipped.
SIDE NOTE: We have a FAQ (Frequently-asked-Questions) article for Nightingale. Make sure to check it out for more information!
A handy tip here is to give your companion a tool they’re lacking. For example, if they have the axe, craft a pickaxe for them just in case, and vice-versa. As mentioned above, they’ll only use what they have equipped. So, if you don’t want your helper to start mining, unequip their pickaxe. If you don’t want them to start chopping trees in your current location, unequip their axe.
Simple, right? It’s all about what they have equipped!
