Nothing can be more annoying than having to listen to your own voice while speaking into your microphone. That only comes second to the other guy who heavily breathes through his mouth while throwing cuss words your way because you happen to exist in the same lobby as he does.

If you happen to experience the former then you would be happy to know that this is a common issue that can be easily fixed, just as long as the issue isn’t caused by anything on the outside.

PS5 Microphone Echo Possible Fixes

If you’re using your controller along with your headset then the issue probably lies in either one of the devices.

We’ll stick to your primary means of communication to make sure the instructions below won’t be too much of a hassle to follow!

So if you have any static or echo emanating from your microphone, your headset volume is probably turned up too high and is being picked up by your mic. Acoustics and all that, but we’ll skip the fancy talk for now, so press your Playstation button and find the Microphone symbol.

Make sure that the headset of your choice is selected and not the one for your wireless controller, you can use that for talking as well but a dedicated headset or even microphone is still going to be the better option.

Now go to “Adjust Microphone Level” and test out your audio levels by making sure that the bar doesn’t overshoot past the green good section under “Input Volume”.

If it does then adjust the level for the microphone selected accordingly.

Up next is the “Sound” setting, navigate to that by going back to one page or pressing your Playstation button again and going down to where it says “Volume”.

Depending on the headset you use your microphone will pick up any sound coming from it if you have your volume set too high.

You’ll have to mess around with the volume slider in tandem with your microphone until you no longer hear the sound of your own voice. That or you can just use Discord instead, but you wouldn’t want your PS5’s features to go to waste!

Here we have Alexis, he's been gaming ever since the second Famicom came out. Which is probably the reason why he goes back to platformers every now and then. Somewhere down the line he started getting more and more fascinated about looking at maps change colors for three to eight hours straight. If he's not out strategizing and beating the life out of his space bar in that order there's a good chance you can find him playing an FPS or talking someone's ear out about how game balance gets in the way of realism. You can tell that he really likes getting the full experience of whatever he gets his hands on.
