Imagine having to go through five hours of traffic only to find out that your PS5 failed to update your games the moment you look at it back at home. Not only did your electric bill go up for leaving the unit turned on for so long, but so did your blood pressure!
As inconvenient as it may sound, this is a common issue that relies on a dice roll, and of course, it’s maddening if it happens to you and not to somebody else.
There are still a few ways to fix this error without you having to end up in the hospital so give the guide a read once you’ve calmed down!
PS5 | Stuck on Calculating Remaining Time Possible Fixes
There are multiple reasons why you’re PS5 suddenly decides not to function as intended, as long as the issue remains within the hardware itself and no external factors are involved then it should be easy enough to fix without having to bring it into a service center.
Saves you gas money and whatever patience you have left!
The first thing you can try is the classic “on and off again” trick, most of the time a small hiccup occurs in the middle of your download and simply restarting it is more than enough to fix the issue.
But it won’t be a proper electronic device if that alone fixes the issue so press your Playstation button and locate the game that is giving you a headache.
Select “Cancel and Delete” and download the game again from scratch, you can find the game in Your Collection under Game Library.
If that isn’t enough then it’s high time we take a look at your settings!
Navigate to your Network settings and disable the option that says “Connect to the Internet”, then select it again to reconnect and try the download another time to see if any real progress is being made.
If any of that still hasn’t worked then go and choose “Set up Internet Connection”, find the address that’s connected to your router under “Registered Networks”, and go to advanced settings.
Usually, the settings here are all set to “Automatic” but go ahead and set everything to the manual, just like in the image provided above. Make sure to follow the four digits provided with every setting as well!
Another method is to Restore the License of the game you’re trying to download, you can get to this page by going to “Users and Accounts”. It will only take around 3-5 minutes and after that, you can try downloading again once you have rebooted your PS5.
For your last attempt – assuming you’re on a wireless connection, you can try getting your hands on a
LAN Cable and directly connect your PS5 to your router.
Industry professionals and even Twitch streamers rely on LAN cables when they do their work since the connection is more stable and isn’t prone to lag spikes or any other inconveniences unless proven that the issue is coming from your ISP.
To simplify things, your router will prioritize anything directly connected to it, including your PS5 so go ahead and try it out!
