Project Zomboid will have you trying everything you got in order to survive just a couple of days more. One of the things that will actually keep you alive for months is cars. In this guide, we will be showing you How to Hotwire Cars. Let’s see what you will need to do in order to make this happen.

How to Hotwire Cars – Project Zomboid

Hotwiring Cars in Project Zomboid is a mustknow for sure. When you know and have this ability you will be able to actually get a car that doesn’t have a key. This is crucial and will help you survive a whole lot more in this game.

The best thing about the Stealth and Thief perk option is that it has the Hotwire trait. You will be able to actually go for a car in the very first days and obtain one. You will be driving long distances on your third day easily.

Basically, it is a very interesting skill to have that will allow you to have many cars in your game. We highly recommend it.

First of all, without saying, you will need to find a car. Then you will need to get inside that car and check out if you can start it. If you cannot, Hotwire comes into play. But a very good tip is to always check the glove box. Sometimes you can find a key here.

Check out what the car actually has and what it is missing. This way you will know if you need to go looking for some parts first. Once you have all the parts that a car needs to start, you will begin to Hotwire.

You will need to hold V. When holding V you will get the Radio Manual wheel to open up. Here you will have a lot of options to choose from when it comes to working on the car.

On the top right corner, you will usually see the ability to start the car. If you do not have the key through, you will see the following that you see on the picture above. – You need keys or Electrical level 1 and Mechanics level 2 to hotwire.

Once you have this, you will need to make sure that you actually have a level 2 Hotwire to get inside the car. This is what you will need to have in order to be able to Hotwire a car.

You will need to upgrade your:

  • Electrical level 1
  • Mechanics level 2

You can level these up easily just by finding some wristwatches and opening them up and then closing them one by one. You will also end to be working on the car or maybe on some mechanics to get this skill up too.

Once you have all of these up, you will go on the wheel again and then just select the Hotwire, which is in the top right corner. And your character will begin trying to hotwire it. If it has all the required things inside, you will begin the car. Congratulations!

We hope that this guide has helped you out on how to Hotwire Cars in Project Zomboid. Have fun unlocking all the cars in this game!
