In Raft, you’ll have a lot of resources once things start going on. So much in fact, that you don’t have a clue what to do with the excess resources and the junk you’ve been collecting. Thankfully, there’s a way to turn that useless pile of junk into something valuable. While there is a way to turn it into a valuable item, we still need a way to use it. Enter the Trading Post, a mysterious shack that seems to pop up on different islands, with no one behind it.
Trading Post Guide – Raft
When you first complete the first story mission of Raft, you get the blueprint of the Recycler. The main purpose of this mission is to, well, recycle. Anything you place into it, whether it be materials or junk, is recycled and turned into Trash Cubes.
The Recycler requires six Plastic, four Metal Ingots, two of either Bolts or Hinges, and two Circuit Boards to craft the Recycler. Once it’s placed on the Raft, you will need one battery to power the Recycler. Once it’s powered up and filled with materials, the Recycler will get to work on creating Trash Cubes for you.
But what is the purpose of the Trash Cube? Well, that’s where the Trading Posts come in. These shacks are on large islands in every biome, and they all contain the same items. You won’t have to worry about missing out on items and getting different ones when dealing with Trading Posts.
How to Use the Trading Posts in Raft
Once you find the Trading Posts and interact with them, you’ll get this menu and see the available items you can buy. However, you’ll notice that T2 and T3 seem to be locked due to an icon, but Tier 1 is open. That’s because if you look at the top right corner, you’ll see that your Reputation is only at Tier 1, meaning you can only access items at Tier 1.
How can you increase your Reputation, you may ask? Well, it’s simple, but time-consuming at the same time. In the sell tab, you’ll see sea life that doesn’t seem to be your everyday mackerel fish. The Trading Posts only accept these fishes if you have them. Selling them will increase your Reputation slowly and grant you a Trade Coin, which you can use in the shop. Bear in mind that leveling up your Reputation needs 300 fishes to do so, so be sure to come in packing with them.
Each tier offers a variety of good stuff, including blueprints for new contraptions you can add to your Raft. Investing in the Trading Post Reputation is always a good idea, as you can get some of the best blueprints from the Trading Post alone.
