Risk of Rain Returns hasn’t even been out for a week and players have already uncovered a bunch of secrets. One such secret is the existence of Prismatic Skins, a special skin type for all survivors with a special acquisition method.
Our toxic friend Acrid has a skin like this, in fact, Acrid has two of these skins. In this guide, we’ll quickly go over how to get it. And if you don’t already have Acrid unlocked, you can check out our guide on how to unlock Acrid.
Where to Find Acrid’s Strange Prism Skin in Risk of Rain
The first Prism Skin is called “Calcium” in-game and can be found on the Final Stage – the titular Risk of Rain stage. If you’ve gotten here before, you know that you need Keycards to access specific areas of the level.
Once you’ve gotten a Keycard as a drop from a monster, go to the Cabin area in the lower-middle part of the map. The Prism is right above this, in one of the small rooms you see.
To get there, you need to go outside of the Cabin area, and then go up and to the left like in the image below.
A good way to do this is by having a bunch of Hopoo Feathers stacked for multiple jumps or use another item that allows you to travel higher, like the jetpacks.
The prism will be in the far left room, but you won’t be able to see it until you enter the room. Once you grab it, you’ll permanently unlock Acrid’s “Calcium” skin.
Where to Find Acrid’s Strange Prism Skin in Boar Beach
If you didn’t already know, Risk of Rain Returns has a hidden stage! It is called Boar Beach, and you get there from a variant of Ancient Valley, a Third Level option.
The entrance to Boar Beach is located at the top left corner of the map. At the top of a hill, you’ll see the ruins of a teleporter.
Stand next to it and press your up key. Afterwards, you’ll get teleported to Boar Beach, like in the image below.
Once you’re in Boar Beach, you’ll need to do a bit of platforming, so make sure you’re either stacked up on mobility items like Hopoo Feathers and Paul’s Goat Hoofs, or you’re playing the Mercenary character who is high mobility either way.
Go to the leftmost corner of the map and grab onto the vine that leads down. You’ll enter an underground area.
From there on, you just need to parkour to the right until you reach the prism. Once you get there, you’ll receive a notification that you’ve unlocked the second Acrid Prismatic Skin.
