There is no shortage of both futuristic and classic guns scattered throughout the world of Starfield. And a lot of them pack quite a punch, especially once you start exploring the game’s weapon modding system.
Unfortunately, it can be hard to find ammo for some of the best guns in the game, especially if you’re short on credits. With that said, where are the best places to stack up on rare ammo?
Best Place to Find Rare Ammunitions
For newer players, one of the most obvious choices that requires the least amount of in-game progress and effort is Centaurian Arsenal, which is a weapon store that can be found within the Residential District in New Atlantis.
Upon traveling to the Residential District from either the map or using the city’s NAT transit system, it should be a short walk away.
It’s relatively easy to access and is close to the Lodge, which you’ll be visiting a lot throughout the course of the game. This store sells 7.5MM Whitehot, 40MM XPL, 9X39MM, and other more common forms of ammunition.
If you don’t feel like exploring or farming spacers and pirates for more ammo, you could sit in one of the chairs inside and wait for a total of 24 hours. Doing this will refresh the vendor’s stock, though it can be an incredibly dull process if you plan on attempting it multiple times.
Also, you should keep in mind that the waiting time needed to reset can vary depending on where you are, so this method can take longer in other locations.
Akila City
In Akila City, you have more options for both buying and selling. For starters, there are at least three shops here that sell you ammo.
Two of them, Shepherd’s General Store and Rowland Arms are practically neighbors and both have an extensive stock of ammo, including those you would find at New Atlantis.
Both are immediately to the left past the city’s main entrance, and the latter also has stools right in front of the counter, if you prefer to refresh.
A little further into the city, if you run straight to the right from where you enter through the entrance gate, you’ll also find Laredo Firearms, which has a much smaller selection, but it includes ammo such as .50 cal and even more 7.5MM Whitehot.
You may also want to check all the bugged chest locations in Akila City for free ammunition!
Neon Core
One of the absolute best places to stock up and sell your goods in a pinch is the city of Neon within the Volii system.
Not only are there several shops close to one another, but at least four of them sell a variety of weapons and ammunition, among other things. There’s also plenty of chairs if you prefer to use the waiting method.
You’re looking for the stores named Neon Tactical and Newill’s Goods, as well as a branch of the Trade Authority. These stores sell a wide range of ammo types, including a lot of .45 Caliber ACP, various shotgun shells, 40MM XPL, and 7.5MM Whitehot.
Neon Tactical and Trade Authority should be immediately visible as soon as you enter the city. Newill’s Goods, on the other hand, is a short walk to the east from Neon Tactical.
If you’re searching for both heavy and light particle fuses, you’ll also want to head to the Arboron booth inside the lobby of Ryujin Tower, just ahead from Newill’s Goods.
They have a very limited selection, but they always have a lot of particle fuses in stock, as well as various EM weapons that you may struggle to find elsewhere.
Other Options
There are other more minor locations with stores that you can check out. If you would rather stock up without doing the vendor refreshing trick, you may as well pay a visit to The Den inside the Wolf system.
As soon as you enter it, you’ll find a small Trade Authority branch near the entrance that sells some decent ammo, and you can offload your loot after buying from the store to get your credits back.
You can also check out Hopetown inside the Valo system. As soon as you land in the area, simply run forward and take a right. There, you’ll find Best Defense, which sells .45 Caliber ACP, 7.5MM Whitehot, and more.
There’s also a vendor named Fast Hoang inside the Pit Stop bar, which is directly in front of Best Defense. This NPC has a similar stock of ammo, including 40MM XPL.
There are also several stalls conveniently stationed very close to one another in The Key in the Kryx system that sell all sorts of ammo and supplies, but this will require you to be a member of the Crimson Fleet. As to how you can achieve that, I’ll leave that up to you to figure out as it involves a pretty extensive questline.
