The First Descendant has a brand new update in the form of Season 2 that has added a ton of content. We also have some new systems added which includes the Target Reward and Pity systems. This can help increase the chances of certain rewards.
But how exactly are you supposed to set it up so you can take advantage of it? We’ll be showing you that and how the system actually works. Without further delay, let’s get into it!
How to Setup Target Reward/Pity System
The Target Reward system in The First Descendant can help guarantee drops, but not the way most players thought. This is because you cannot target items within Amorphous materials.
Instead, the target reward system only allows you to target things that are mission rewards i.e. Amorphous materials from outposts. You can also get Keelan and Fellow from the Void Vessels with this system as well.
Speaking of the Void Vessels, you might want to check out our ultimate void vessels guide.
The first thing you want to do is go into the Access Menu. Here, you’ll see a Target Reward List option at the bottom.
Hitting that option will open the list. At the start, you will not have anything here. So, you’ll need to put something on the list which we’ll look at in a bit.
When you do put something in the list, there will be a small meter that will fill up for each item. This pity meter fills up depending on the number of times you run a mission or outpost without getting the reward.
The meter fills up slowly when you don’t get a drop until you reach the 5th unsuccessful run. When it is full, you are guaranteed to get the drop. This prevents bad luck from setting in and leading to you not getting an item for too long.
If you do get an item, keep in mind that the pity meter will reset.
Now let’s see how you can set up the system in the target reward list. To do this, go to the Amorphous material or mission reward that you’re trying to get in the menu. After that, select it so that you can see the Acquisition Info.
Here, you’ll see a list of Outposts or missions where you can get the item. Hover your cursor on the exact location which you’ll run for the drop and set it as the Target Reward.
Doing so will add it to your Target Reward list.
That’s everything you need to know about setting up the target reward and pity system in The First Descendant. While it isn’t as effective as most people thought, it’s still useful, especially if you’re trying to get the new Descendant and companion.
