10 New Features In ARK Survival Ascended

When you gain a certain amount of success, a small percentage of your playerbase will start to assume that you’re just reskinning a game for a sequel. Definitely not the case for ARK: Survival Ascended, as there’s tons of new stuff for you to mess around with that wasn’t even in the first game!

These also include features that have been vastly improved upon as well, like character customization. Now, you can look even wackier or more shredded as you tear through the island and its inhabitants. Find out the rest of the features below if you’re still having second thoughts with the game.

10 New Features In ARK Survival Ascended

You have full control on what your character can look like. Changes can be made to your general body composition, all the way down to your arms and legs.

But there’s more! Your body is just the beginning, we have nine more features to go through on the dino crisis express!

Chibi Pets No Longer Use Your Off-hand Slot

Back then. you had no option to equip a shield and a Chibi at the same time. That’s out of the window now, and in a good way.

Check out your inventory and look at the bottom of your avatar. There’s a pet slot there that you can make use of now without having to switch your items around as much.

No More Electrical Outlets/Cables

Electrical outlets and cables are completely gone in ARK: Survival Ascended. All you need in order to power your electrical appliances now is a power generator. Have the correct ingredients on hand. and you’ll be able to power a small area in your base.

The power generator comes with an orange glow that indicates the area that will receive electricity. Anything inside of the radius will always receive power.

Electrical Appliances Don’t Need Gasoline

Continuing from the last feature, a good majority of your electrical appliances will no longer require gasoline to function. This excludes the generator.

Having a renewable source of energy is always a good thing, that’s how far I’ll go with that quip before I make myself look like an environmentalist.

Now you can leave your appliances on forever without having to worry about running out of gasoline!

Irrigation Pipes Are Gone

Back then, you had to connect a butt load of water pipes to fully irrigate your appliances. Now, you only need a metal water intake placed in the water and everything nearby will be properly irrigated. It works exactly the same way as the generator.

Once you select the metal intake, it will display the irrigation radius in blue. You can also extend the range of your water supply by adding in some extra water tanks.

Tameable Offspring

Wild dinosaurs and creatures now roam around with their babies. These can be tamed as well, you won’t be needing kibble anytime soon.

All you need to do is kill the parent, Uncle Ben style. Once they’re out of the picture, you can tame the baby instantly to regain its trust.

More Walls And Ceilings

This one is for all those base design enthusiasts. You can now make some really cool structures with the newly added quarter walls and ceilings. Try them out and make some funky or functional designs that will help protect you from the elements.

All New Ping System

If you ever want to let your friends or tribe members in on what you just found, then you can do just that with the new Ping System.

Feel like you’ve put down too much on your map? Well, you can fix that, so you won’t have to deal with too much clutter!

Loot Tables Have Changed

No longer will you risk your neck for a few pieces of rock and some timber. The supply beacons have been revamped and the majority of the loot you will get are now pretty high tier.

So, the trek going inland will now be worthwhile if you’re short on good items.

Mods

Now, you have less clicking to worry about as you can browse and install mods from the game itself. You’ll be able to access this section from the main menu. The list will keep on growing so always be on the lookout for new mods from the community.

You’ll have to wait a while if you’re playing on a console though, but mods will come to you controller users as well!

Do be sure to have your mods activated before you jump back into the game. You can do that by creating or resuming a game and finding the Mod Settings tab.

From there, you’ll see all of your available mods along with the ones that you’re currently using. Click on activate or deactivate on what you need to apply the changes.
