In Ark Survival Ascended, just like the original version of the game, there are multiple boss arenas where you and your tribe can fight an incredibly powerful enemy for various rewards. With that said, there are a few things to keep in mind before you can attempt any of these fights. Let’s go over some of those things!
Boss Arena Guide
First up, you should know that there are different colored obelisks where these bosses can be spawned:
- Broodmother – Spawns at the Green obelisk.
- Megapithecus – Spawns at the Blue obelisk.
- Dragon – Spawns at the Red obelisk.
This can be different based on your server settings, but normally, these are where these bosses can be fought. The restrictions in what you can bring are practically the same for all of these.
On a bonus note, you should ideally be bringing in herbivores for the Dragon fight, as it can deal bonus damage to carnivores.
The ideal options for boss fights are typically the Rex, Therizinosaur, or the Woolly Rhino. However, these are just meta picks, and you are free to use any other good creatures that you have tamed.
The Restrictions
When fighting either the Megapithecus or Broodmother, take note that you cannot bring in Tek armor or a grappling hook.
The former will typically be unequipped automatically as you enter the fight, which is less than ideal as you may just die instantly. The latter, on the other hand, can be brought in but will not work as intended.
You also cannot bring in any kind of flying dinos or water-based creatures. As for the land dinos, the ones that cannot be brought in are those with a drag weight of over 560.
Here is a list of some such creatures, including some that cannot make it for other reasons:
- Brontosaurus
- Giganotosaurus
- Diplodocus
- Megalania
- Paraceratherium
- Thylacoleo
- Titanoboa
- Titanosaur
You must also keep in mind that a maximum of ten players and 20 creatures are allowed into the arena. This also includes pets that are on your shoulders.
There are also certain bugs that can come with being mounted when entering an arena, so try to dismount before going in to avoid potential problems that will kill you.
