If you’re looking for a survival game that challenges you in new and interesting ways, you don’t have to look much farther than Nightingale. It’s an open-world title that focuses primarily on Realm hopping. The game gives you access to Realm Cards that allows you to change the parameters of your world. Cool, huh?
While the Fae wilds can be a little difficult to navigate at first, it won’t take you long to get used to the hustle and bustle of things. That said, there are certain aspects of exploration that might require a bit more of an explanation than usual. For example, we’ll learn how to solve the Bastille of Intellect Puzzle.
Not to worry however, as we’re here to help — though it’s also a good idea to get the help of friends via the Coop Feature! After all, the more the merrier, especially in a game like Nightingale.
How to Solve the Bastille of Intellect Puzzle
Actually, the Bastille of Intellect Puzzle in itself is not really that confusing. For those used to tackling puzzles in games, this is probably one of the easiest. The reason why this probably requires a bit more explanation than usual is based on the lore and potential state of the game at full release (since it’s in Early Access) — but I’ll talk more about that after the solution.
In the How to Play / Tutorial menu, the Bastille of Intellect is a Fae structure where a Hope Echo resides. Interestingly enough, there is also the Puzzle Core, which has little to do with the Bastille of Intellect. It’s a curious little thing, and perhaps a taste of what’s to come.
There are many more Bastilles located throughout the realms, but for now we’ll focus on Intellect. Naturally, this involves a puzzle of some kind. The good news is that it doesn’t require too much brainpower to get the job done.
To solve the Bastille of Intellect Puzzle, all you have to do is watch the Puzzle Pieces around the structure as they glow and provide a sequence to follow. In essence, it’s a simple memory game where you interact with each puzzle piece in order.
The interesting thing about the whole thing involves the rewards. The reward you get immediately upon finishing the puzzle is known as a Favour. This acts as temporary buff you gain from completing tasks. In this case, it was the Bastille of Intellect.
Other than the Favour, there is also the Puzzle Core, which houses a Hope Echo.
The Hope Echo is yet another reward in the game, which typically gives you blueprints, allowing you to craft more items, weapons, and structures in the game. This will come in clutch when you finally get around to building a proper base in the game.
What’s the deal with Puzzle Pieces?
However, you’ll also find what looks to be the top of Puzzle Pieces scattered around the realm which you can’t pick up (at least not yet). This likely has something to do with these Bastilles in the future.
Perhaps you find these jeweled items, place them on the structures which will eventually be Puzzle Pieces, and solve the puzzle like usual. Of course this is all just speculation, but we’ll see what the game has in store!
