Monster Hunter Sunbreak: All Sub-Camp & Buddy Recon Locations

Camping with buddies to hunt monsters. A normal day in the Monster Hunter universe.

Monster Hunter Sunbreak: All Sub-Camp & Buddy Recon Locations

In Monster Hunter, you have camps on the map called Sub-Camps, which act as your base of operations while hunting monsters. The best feature about Sub-Camps however is that you can travel from one Sub-Camp to another. In Monster Hunter Sunbreak, this feature returned, but it did not come empty-handed. Along came Buddy Recon, a feature that allows you to send pets out to different parts of the map and act as your eyes.

All Sub-Camp & Buddy Recon Locations – Monster Hunter Sunbreak

In each map of the game, there are recon points and Sub-Camps. Each map will have a Sub-Camp and 2 recon points, but there are some maps with 2 Sub-Camps and 2 recon points, but we’ll point that out as the guide goes on.

Take note that when using recon points will cost you 100 Kamura Points, can only be used once per quest, and does not allow you to use the Item Box. Recon points are mostly just for convenience and if you have to chase after a monster that got away.

Bear in mind that you don’t really need to find these to unlock them for use. The recon points are automatically unlocked. This guide is just to show you where the recon points are visually so you can plan out your missions much better. Refer to the minimap in the pictures to find the locations accurately if you wish to check the area out.

Starting off with the Jungle map, the first recon point is located near the main camp. You can easily spot it as the landmark is a large tree that’s been hollowed out.

The next recon point is located just on the other side of the map from where the first recon point is located.

You can find the sub-camp near the center of the map, hidden away in a cave to avoid being trampled by monsters.

In the Citadel, you will find the first recon point ways away from the main camp. The recon point is identifiable next to a destroyed house.

The next recon point is located on a cliffside on the other side of the map from the main camp. It’s a high climb, but the view looks great.

You can find the sub-camp on the other side of the map from the main camp, but on the right side this time.

The next map is the Shrine Ruins. The first recon point you can find is at the highest point of the map. It’s located near the middle of the map on the highest hill you can see.

The sub-camp is located close to the last recon point. It requires some climbing, though not as bad as the last recon point.

The last recon point in the area is on the other end of the map.

Moving on to the Frost Islands, there are 2 sub-camps on this map. You can find the first one near the middle, just a bit to the left of the map.

The first of the recon units on the map overlooks a large part of the lake.

You will find the second sub-camp in the top right area, hidden at the top of a hill with a large hole for an entrance.

The last recon point is located in a cavern next to a shrine at the top left of the map. It’s pretty spooky in there.

In the Sandy Plains, there are 2 sub-camps. The first one is located not far away from the main camp.

You can find the first recon point near the first sub-camp, pretty much on the other side of the map.

Near the last recon point is the sub-camp. Just a jump and grapple away.

The last recon point is all the way at the end of the map, basically on the opposite end of the main camp.

In the Flooded Forest, you can find the first recon point overlooking the area near the edge of a structure.

The map only has one sub-camp, which you can find near the last recon point.

The last recon point is located near the large square area of the map.

On the last map, the Lava Caverns, there are 2 sub-camps. You will find the first one near the top of the map, next to a lava waterfall.

The last sub-camp in the map is located in the foresty part of the map, pretty much on the other side of the lava waterfall.

The first recon point in the map is located in the water caverns located underneath the map. The area is much more dangerous compared to the rest, so be careful.

The last recon point is located in the lava caverns.

Now that you know what the recon points and sub-camps look like, you can plan your missions accordingly and know the area well.
