The new game Atomic Hearts is out and with it comes some nice combat for you to enjoy. The game is set in an alternate universe where the USSR is technologically advanced in the 1950’s with all sorts of robots, then the robots go haywire due to some traitors and now you’re here to fight them. There’s a lot of different ways you can go about in Combat in the game but the main selling point of the game’s combat are the abilities. In this guide we’ll show you what are the cool abilities you can do in this game, which is definitely not magic, it’s sci-fi science magic!

Combat Guide: Atomic Heart

When playing Atomic Heart you might go to the very questionable red fridge in the game and look at all the weapons that you can craft. Then you’ll notice that there isn’t much which is kinda of a bummer, I know I felt that too, but where the game shines is your abilities!

Abilities can help you immensely in battle and there’s a lot of them to choose from. If you want to try one out remember that you can refund the currency you spend on these abilities without any downside! So experiment on what feels good for you and your playstyle!

Abilities

There’s a lot of abilities in the game and a lot of them can synergize well with different weapons. Here are all the abilities you can get in the game.

  • Shok – The first ability you get in the game and something you always have equipped so it’s good to put upgrades on this one as early as possible.
    • Notable Upgrades:
      • Chain Lightning which lets you hit more enemies.
      • Extended Topology for more targets hit.
      • Resistor Malfunction to make electrified enemies get more damage.
  • Frostbite – Freezes an enemy or multiple enemies in place, a great defensive crowd control ability that can help you land a few good hits while they’re frozen. It can also freeze enemies mid-attack which makes for some cool poses.
    • Notable Upgrades:
      • Intensive Spraying will let you freeze enemies faster.
      • Absolute Zero deals damage over time while enemies are frozen.
      • Careful Disassembly will increase loot from defeated frozen enemies.
  • Mass Telekenises – By far the coolest ability in the game, everyone around you is suspended into the air and in complete mercy of your weapons. You can fire all weapons one handed as your left hand makes them float up.
    • Notable Upgrades:
      • Forced Fall Acceleration makes it so you can slam enemies to the ground after making them float by using the ability again.
      • Amplified Modulator increases the area of effect.
      • Increased Power lets you levitate larger enemies.
  • Polymeric Jet – A great crowd control ability that can be used offensively as well, better than Frostbite in my opinion. It slows enemies down and you can use elemental attacks on it and it’ll deal that damage type to enemies stuck on the foam.
    • Notable Upgrades:
      • Mixture Efficacy makes the elemental damage stronger.
      • Environmental Resistance lets the foam stay longer.
      • Neuro-Polymer Air Defence to get rid of those pesky flying enemies!
  • Polymeric Shield – A defensive shield that you can sustain and still shoot or swing your weapon while doing so. A must have for those who love using melee weapons as those pesky ranged enemies can get annoying, don’t worry the shield blocks melee as well.
    • Notable Upgrades:
      • Kinetic Reflector doubles incoming melee damage and deflects it back to the enemy.
      • Neuro-Polymer Reflector reflects ranged attacks.
      • Med Unit Feedback restores your health every time you block an attack.

Passive Abilities

Along with the active abilities are the passive ones that help you in other ways like increasing your inventory capacity or energy capacity. There’s a lot of them to list out so we’ll just show the more notable passive upgrades.

  • Born Marksman – Drastically reduces hip-fire accuracy of weapons specially for the automatic ones.
  • Morning Exercise – Increases running speed, which helps a lot since there’s a lot of running around and back tracking in this game.
  • Energy Density – There’s two of these in the Energy Management trees that will increase your energy reserves, great if you like using the energy weapons.

Congratulations you now know the different abilities you can get for combat in Atomic Heart, now go out there and try these abilities out!
