The progression in Honkai: Star Rail is comparable to Genshin Impact, but at the same time, it’s different. The auto-battle system in Honkai: Star Rail allows you to grind in the background while you do other stuff, allowing you to focus only where it matters. But with so many things to do, you’re probably overwhelmed, like I was with Genshin Impact.

The game employs the stamina system called Trailblazer Power, where basically, you’re limited to how much you can grind. Of course, you can always bulldoze your way with money, but that’s really unnecessary to get a visible progress in this game.

What Should You Do After Logging In?

Before anything, you should be reminded that min-maxing is certainly something that some players do. But you don’t necessarily have to feel pressured to do so. If you want to chill with your game and just enjoy the story on breaks, feel free to do so. The point of a game is to have fun! It’s easy to feel overwhelmed by the amount of things you can do in this game. Particularly for those of you unfamiliar with Hoyoverse games.

Nameless Honor

I find consulting the Nameless Honor the easiest way to figure out what I’m supposed to do today. It’s especially true back when I was a new Genshin player. This is the BP equivalent of Genshin Impact and they’re similar to the Daily Training activities. But while Daily Training activities are usually random, Nameless Honor’s missions are not.

Every day, you need to log into the game, consume 150 TPs, Dispatch 1 Assignment, and Reach 500 Daily Training Activity. It’s easy to see how this simple list already tells you things you can do today.

Dispatching Assignments is another feature you shouldn’t miss. It’s great to get your resources offline, although they are not that much, they’re still pretty decent considering you don’t have to do anything.

Then you can head over to the weekly mission which will tell you more on what you can do this week. The weekly missions will tell you what you can do, such as what Calyxes you can grind, how many Echo of Wars you should do, etc. You’ll find yourself burning through all your TPs that way.

Daily Mission, Daily Training, & Daily Check-in

The first thing you can do after logging in is definitely the Daily Mission, which is only one compared to four in Genshin Impact. Doing this will grant you 200 activity points. Then look at the Daily Training list of things you can do and focus on those things. They can be easy things like crafting cosumables and breaking objects, or asking you to fight the Golden or Crimson Calyx once.

Daily Training grants you 60 Stellar Jades every day, so try not to miss them!

The second thing is the Daily Check-in on Hoyolab, which gives you 60 Stellar Jades with 20 days cumulative check-in every month. If you hate forgetting, you can always just keep the pages open on your Chrome tabs on the phone. I keep mine open since 2019 with Genshin Impact, you’re allowed to judge me.

Next, every day you can generate up to 180 TP points and you need the points to grind for EXPs, Ascension materials, Trace materials, Relics & Planar Ornaments, and credits. Where do you go from here?

Simulated Universe

The Simulated Universe is a weekly thing, but throughout the week, you can always attempt them at any point. That’s because the SU counts any points you earned no matter at which point you died or stop. Simulated Universe gives you weekly reward like Stellar Jades, Herta’s Bonds, and Credits. The reward gets better the higher your level and equilibrium.

Another thing you should know is that bosses in Simulated Universe drops credits and relic enhancement materials. These drops from Elite Bosses, not just the big boss at the end of the run, up to 100 times. So what you can do is do Simulated Universe without claiming for the Planar Ornaments to save your TPs.

It can be tedious, so if you feel like it’s too much, don’t feel obliged.

Puzzles

There are several puzzles in some maps that give you new puzzles every day. They grant you a couple of treasure chests that range from 5-30 Stellar Jades. Depending on the region, they also grant you some of the region’s special currency that you can spend at the shop.

Here are some recurring daily puzzle areas you can check out every day:

  • Miner’s Cart puzzle in the Great Mine
  • All Fool’s Box puzzle in Backwater Pass
  • Cloudford’s Celestial Axis for starskiff
  • Divination Commission’s daily divining
  • Artisan Commission’s Luminflux Pyxis Puzzle

You can know if it’s a recurring puzzle with this legend on the map. It’s a puzzle symbol but with two arrows inside it.

The miner’s cart has to be the most time-consuming puzzle by far because you can only move the cart one at a time. The Cloudford’s Celestial Axis is the fastest, although it is still challenging the further you go with the puzzle.

Farming the entire maps

The enemies on the map respawn every day and for those of you who love to min-max your account, these can be farmed for the extra materials, credits and EXPs. But of course, they’re exponentially less than if you spend TPs on Golden and Crimson Calyxes instead. And they can also be tedious and leave you unable to enjoy the game because they’re too time-consuming.

That’s a lot of things to do still, but you now you know where to start!
