Age Of Empires 4: Game Freezes During Campaign | Fix

Age of Empires 4 is now officially launched and players are enjoying multiple civilizations and campaigns. Whether you are playing against a person or an AI, you are sure to spend hours on the game itself. However, some players are encountering errors during their campaign and when launching the game. Below are some of the common fixes you can try so far. 

Crashing Issues

If your game is Crashing during launch, try to restart your game and PC first. You should also check if you have the latest graphic drivers and have an updated OS. If you are still encountering issues, try to reinstall the game or verify the integrity of the files on Steam. Try disabling the Steam Overlay as well. 

Freezing during a Campaign

If you encounter an error where your game freezes during a campaign, try pressing Win+Ctrl+Shift+B on your keyboard and resetting your GPU drivers. Afterward, restart your PC. Some players also find that a missing DLL file is making the game crash. 
Go to your System32 folder and copy the xinput1_3.dll file. Save it somewhere else and rename it to xinput1_4.dll. After renaming the file, paste it back to the folder.
