Crafting your first set of consumables in ARK: Survival Ascended makes you feel like someone who just had a scientific breakthrough. The next course of action of course would be to show off these discoveries to the island inhabitants who keep on clawing at your doors.
There will come a time, however, where doing all the crafting and having no time for exploring will start to get on your nerves. If you wish to see more of the island without having to worry about what you’re making back at home, then read the guide below and discover the wonders of autocrafting!
How To Use Autocrafting
Most of the time, players have a tendency to leave autocrafting turned on while at home. This in turn, wastes a lot of resources that could’ve been used for something else. Also, you can have this turned on almost everywhere including the basic cooking pot.
When your workstations are equipped with enough resources for a given recipe, they will automatically gather all the required ingredients and craft the recipe on your behalf.
This removes the inconvenience of having to press “E” on your keyboard every time you need something crafted.
Notice the yellow bar underneath the recipe selected. As long as autocrafting is turned on, it will keep cranking out that recipe until it runs out of the ingredients needed to make it.
There’s no way to make only one specific thing in with auto-craft. What you can do is spam the recipe until you create the maximum amount your workstation can make. This will create a queue underneath your inventory screen, where you’ll see everything that’s being made.
It’s a safer option compared to leaving auto-craft turned on as it wastes less resources. Because sometimes auto-craft makes other components from a recipe that you don’t really need. That’s never a good thing, especially if you’re just starting out.
So in hindsight, it might be better to have autocrafting turned off. Simply click on it anytime you’re in the crafting menu before making your next batch of dye.
And that’s how you can use autocrafting in ARK: Survival Ascended. Now, you can decide whether you want to leave it turned on or not the next time you head out!
