One of the main activities you’ll be doing in survival games is collecting resources. Be it food and weapons in zombie survival games or building materials in Ark Survival Ascended. There is a lot of resource farming you’ll be doing in these games. If you’re looking for Oil to power your base in the game, then you’ll need to have a lot of it!
In this guide, we’ll show you the top 10 best locations to farm oil in Ark Survival Ascended. Now, let’s see where we can find more oil!
Top 10 Best Oil Locations | The Island Map
In Ark Survival Ascended you’ll need oil to make a lot of things. From powering your bases to crafting different items, like different crafting benches or forges. Usually, you’ll want to have at least a Metal Pickaxe to whack some oil nodes in the game. It might take a while, but you’ll get most of them.
Another way to these oil nodes faster is to tame an Ankylosaurus and level it up to have maximum melee attack and some levels in oxygen. The former easily gets the oil from nodes and the latter for some of the locations below.

- Location #2 – Latitude 9.1 Longitude 14.8

- Location #4 – Latitude 27.7 Longitude 7.5

Location #1 – Latitude 8.4 Longitude 23.6
Most of the first locations we’ll be checking out are in the Snow Biome to the northwestern tip of the island. In Ark Survival Ascended, they’ve changed the looks of oil nodes in the game. You can see them below they look like rocks now with different layers.
Use a Metal Pickaxe or something better to harvest these, just remember to stay warm. You can also bring an Ankylosaurus to gather these faster.
Location #2 – Latitude 9.1 Longitude 14.8
Following the shores to the west of the previous location, you’ll find more Oil nodes along the way. In this particular area, you’ll find a bunch of them to add to your list of locations here with oil.
Location #3 – Latitude 5.8 Longitude 5
Further northwest of the previous location you’ll find an Iceberg. For this, you’ll want to have a flying animal to get yourself on top of it. There are a lot of oil nodes at the base of the iceberg and on top, so make sure to collect them all!
Location #4 – Latitude 27.7 Longitude 7.5
Near where the Snow Biome ends to the western part of the island is where you’ll find a big rock arch.
Going forward and following the snowy shores you’ll find even more oil nodes there. There are also a bunch of Silica Pearl locations here.

Location #5 – Latitude 82.4 Longitude 34.1
Did you know that you can get oil in the southern spawn areas in the game? In this location, you’ll find this shallow area of water as shown below. Dive down and look for some corals.
What we’re looking for are these corals shown below. They’re blue-ish corals that can give you oil. All you need to do is harvest them with a metal pickaxe or better. You can also use the Ankylosaurus to make things easier.
Location #6 – Latitude 81.9 Longitude 38.1
If you don’t mind being attacked by sharks, this place is another great way to get oil. Down the waters in this area is a coral reef and you can find a bunch of these oil corals down there. This is also why we suggest you level the Oxygen stat on your Ankylosaurus, so they can stay underwater longer.
Location #7 – Latitude 94.8 Longitude 56.1
For this next location, it’s still in the southern spawn zones of the island. This time though you can get to the Lagoon as shown below where it’s covered by a rock formation. The only way you can get here is by flying in or going through the entrance to the south.
This is the safest area where you can find oil corals in the game as there are not much hostile creatures to spawn here.
Location #8 – Latitude 86 Longitude 78.6
For the next area, you’ll it’s still in the shallow waters of the southern areas of the island. This area has a lot of shallow reefs that you can go to and collect oil corals. Because of how shallow it is, there’s a smaller chance that you’ll get attacked by sharks so it’s one of the better areas to farm oil
Location #9 – Latitude 92.6 Longitude 91.5
If you’re tired of looking for oil corals, then this area in the southeasternmost tip of the map is where you can find oil rocks.
Just go to the island and dive down and look for these oil rocks as shown below. They’ll have little wisps of oil floating above them. Just make sure you don’t get attacked by sharks!
Location #10 – Latitude 21.5 Longitude 21.6
This is the giant blue beam that you can see from everywhere around the Snow Biome. It’s not the safest place nor are there a ton of oil nodes here, but if you’re already in the area, it’s a great place to get some.
There are a couple of oil nodes scattered around the area for you to gather, just watch out for the wildlife!
