Ever since the PS2 came out five decades ago (you have gray hair now) wireless options weren’t that prevalent yet. In fact, they were more of a novelty and were needlessly expensive, but the lack of cables lying around really helped out with tidying up.
Now wireless options are all over the place, even on your PS5! But there’s still a few hiccups when it comes to trying to get the feature to work. In this guide, we’ll help free you from the ties that bind and experience the joy of wireless gaming again. That is if you can find where you hid your controller first.
How to Connect PS5 Controller Without USB Cable
There are two ways to connect your PS5 Controller to your console. The first method will need two controllers. Once you have those in hand you can go straight to Settings. Scroll past everything else until you get to Accessories. When you get there, choose General and Bluetooth Accessories.
Now press on your controller’s Playtsation Button along with the Select Button at the same time to have it enter Bluetooth Pairing Mode. Your controller will emit a blue glow and you’ll be able to find the new device under the “Accessories found” section in Bluetooth Accessories.
Now using your second controller, go to Accessories found and select the new device. Choose “Yes” when asked if you want to register the new accessory. You’ll be able to use your new controller on your console shortly without any issues whatsoever.
Second Method
It’s not the end of the world yet if you don’t have two controllers. What you’ll need next is a functioning phone that lets you download Remote Play via Google Play or the Apple App Store. This lets you connect to your PS5 using your mobile device. Once you connect your phone to your PS5, you can select your controller from Accessories again, just like what you did with the first method!
And that’s how you can connect your controller wirelessly to your Playstation 5! Make sure to refer to our other guides if you have other issues when it comes to setting up the devices you have.
