Every good space spelunking crew needs a radar operator in Lethal Company. But we’ve got you covered; keep reading to get the best tips and guides on how to assist the team from the ship.

Complete Radar Operator Guide

Ship Terminal and Controls

At the front of the ship, you’ll see two terminals. The Controls will be on the left and the Terminal on the right.

Lethal Company: Complete Radar Operator Guide Ship Controls Terminals

Ship Controls

  • The red button turns the screen on or off.
  • The white button switches the displaying radar on the Controls and Terminal.
  • The lever is for starting an expedition.
  • The Teleporter button will appear on the left once purchased.
  • You can also see any player’s radar on the controls, though it will be difficult to read IDs due to the picture quality of the control console.

Ship Terminal

  • The Terminal is keyboard-operated. You can type “Help” for a list of commands, but the primary functions you’ll need are the following:
    • Route to different moons
    • Access the store
    • View bestiary
    • Poem storage
    • Scan area
    • Switch player radars
    • View radars
  • Most commands can be shortened to about three letters and can edit commands like “Route” and “Buy” to just a moon’s name and an item in store. Confirm and Deny can be shortened to “C” and “D”.
  • The “View Monitor” command will give you a clearer view of player radars.
  • The “Switch” command can be used to cycle through radars. To view a specific player’s radar, use the command “Switch [Player Name]”. NOTE: Placing the Terminal and Console together will give Operators an easier way to switch between radars.

Radio Operator Tasks

As an Operator, you’ll have your work cut out for you. Here’s a list of the things you can do from the ship to keep your crew (and yourself) alive.

  • Keep cycling through your team’s radars.
  • Tell your teammates to radio in loot when they find it and if they’ll need another pair of hands to transport it. Coordinate with your team and know where your team is staging the loot.
  • Open any locked doors early in the game.
  • Check what routes your teammates are taking. Help them avoid dead ends.
  • Keep an eye out for creatures and let your team know if they’re approaching one. You can also use security doors to trap them.
  • Disable any mines or turrets that your teammates might come close to triggering. The initiative is key.
  • Update your teammates of the time. There will be moons that are more dangerous than others at certain times and weathers.
  • You can teleport your teammate’s corpse if their pip has stopped moving.

Creature Identification

Operators can identify different creatures on the radar based on how their pips look and move. Here’s a thorough guide so that you can let your team know what they might face. Note that all creature pips are red.

  • Spore Lizards: Small pip that randomly roams. Will frequently stop and will run when confronted.
  • Hoarding Bug: Medium pip that roams around a territory. Stashed scrap nearby will indicate how close you are to a hoarding bug.
  • Hygrodere: Large pip that moves slowly towards nearby players.
  • Snare Flea: Small pip with minimal movement. Can hide in ceilings. A red pip inside a player pip (see Symbols) means a player has been grabbed.
  • Bunker Spider: Medium pip with minimal movement. If it isn’t moving at all it means it’s nested
  • Coil Head: Medium pip with rapid movement. Will stop completely when face-to-face with a player.
  • Thumper: Medium pip with rapid movement and erratic roaming patterns. Will speed up when it encounters a player.
  • Brackens: Medium pip with stalking patterns. Will follow a player for periods of time but retreat when spotted. Can use vents.
  • Jester: Medium pip with a normal rate of movement. Known to follow players for 20 seconds, stay in place for 40 seconds, and then speed up towards players.
