If you’re playing Lethal Company right now, then there’s a good chance that you’re one of these two things: You’re either a streamer or your friends know you get scared easily and want to hear you scream.
But in this game, everyone screams equally, even the guy operating the terminal. In this guide, you’ll discover what your responsibilities will be the moment you leave the space shuttle. Everyone will be assigned a role that they need to stick with in order to keep the company happy and most importantly, meet the quota.
Complete Team Roles Guide
There’s a total of four roles that you can fill in while playing Lethal Company. A well-rounded number since you can have a maximum of four players per party.
This includes the lazy operator stuck with the spaceship barking orders at you. That guy’s usually the one who gets scared easily and should be placed in the front lines.
With that said, the roles are pretty flexible and will give you an idea of what you should bring and do if you ever draw the short straw.
Terminal Operator
One person has to stay on the ship with a functioning walkie-talkie. This is the safest place to be on any moon you visit, making it a rather desirable position.
Relaying information to your team will be your primary concern. This includes spotting creature locations, loot, and letting them know which doors are locked or not.
You’re also the only one who’ll be able to tell the time of day once everyone is indoors. You have access to tools like the radar booster, teleporter, loud horn, and of course, the terminal.
We have a guide on all of the terminal commands in case you want to function optimally.
The most important part of operating the terminal is knowing when to lock and unlock doors. Knowing how your enemy moves is important to know as well. All of this will be shown in blips on your monitor.
One more thing, you’re usually going to be the last person alive. Well, until a dog shows up at least. Yeah, you’re not really safe in the spaceship either. If not, then take off on your own and save any loot your crew managed to get on the ship as a last resort.
Comms Officer
The Communications Officer is the sole person travelling with the rest of the crew who has a walkie-talkie. There’s a recession, so the company is saving resources by being cheap. You’ll be talking to the Terminal Operator most of the time while keeping the rest of your crew in check.
You should let the Terminal Operator know what dangers are out there as soon as you can. This helps the operator help you work around the monsters in the building you’re looting.
Later on, you’ll get a new toy, the Zap Gun. This will help stun a creature for a good 30-60 seconds. That’ll buy you and your crew enough time to relocate elsewhere if you can keep the gun steady.
Make sure that you have a radar booster as well. Place that next to the exit or entrance, so none of you will get lost.
Weapons Specialist
The weapons specialist keeps the rest of the crew alive, or at least try to. He’s the one that usually gets into fights first and will either use a shovel or a stop sign. You can work with the Comms Officer to kill more dangerous officers by stunlocking them.
You’re also the go-to person if someone ever manages to get a Snare Flea stuck on their head. More info on that if you read our Snare Flea guide in case one latches on to you. So yeah, your job is simple, scream, shout, bash heads, but don’t die first.
The Moneymaker
Your contributions to the company will be remembered. Until someone brings in a bigger profit than you, at least. You want to have the most inventory space at all the time by only carrying the essentials. Sometimes, you might not even want to carry anything at all, not even a flashlight.
But somebody has to carry the pro flashlight, and that somebody is usually you. If you don’t have it, then just follow someone who does so you’ll have an empty inventory. Most players will also give their small items to you, basically making you the mule of the party.
And those are all of the roles you can take on while playing Lethal Company. One more thing, if you have two handed items with you make sure to leave them next to the exit. Come back to collect it later for maximum efficiency!
