Lethal Company: Masked & Mimic Guide

Masked are dramatic masks that were introduced in Update 45 of Lethal Company. The mask is found inside the bunker, looking like a harmless scrap of material. However, it is not as innocent as it may seem.

If workers hold the masks in their hands for an extended period of time, they will get possessed by them. Then, they will seek out other workers to get their hands on them.

Let’s see what you need to know before trying to use this deathly mask in this Lethal Company: Masked & Mimic Guide.

Masked & Mimic

The Masked & Mimic is the new addition to the Lethal Company. You now have the opportunity to find either a Tragedy or Comedy Mask while exploring the bunker.

But when you encounter one, you should be aware of it. If you wear the masks for a long time, the Mimic can possess you.

How to Spawn Mimic

Masks spawn in two different ways. One regularly:

  • The duration of the possession can vary. But the players who hold the Dramatic Masks in their hands will become possessed and change into Masked.
  • Keep in mind that masks have the potential to press themselves against a player if they are holding one.
  • You cannot come back to life if you die while transforming into a Masked.
  • If a Masked kills you, you will become a Masked too.
  • A player will become a masked if they pass away while still holding a mask in their inventory.
  • Masked is only available on Rend and Titan, where it can spawn at random like other enemies.

Masked will often mimic actions taken by players, including looking around, peeking around corners, and spinning.

Therefore, you should examine the legitimacy of a player’s actions when you see a friend wearing a Tragedy or Comedy Mask.

You should be wary if they continue to spin in the face of no immediate danger and act as if nothing had happened.

It is also prudent to exercise caution if a player ignores enemies (or vice versa) and makes scrap easily noticeable.

NOTE: Even after dying, masked players will still mimic other players’ actions on the ship monitor (though they will be stationary).

Strategy Against The Mimic

There are some strategies you can use against the Masked, a.k.a. Mimic. Masked behaves similarly to Brackens; it will initially hesitate to stalk and pursue a player it detects, but unlike Brackens, Masked will eventually (and restlessly) pursue a detected player.

Let’s see how you can understand if a player is possessed by the Masked:

  • Masked targets players one at a time during a pursuit, ignoring other players until the chase is over.
  • As long as the player being targeted is not moving too far away, other players who are being ignored by the Masked can freely attack them while they are pursuing them without fear of a sudden target change.
  • The Masked may even touch players who ignore them without attacking them. (Note: When doing so, do not obstruct the Masked’s line of sight.).
  • When one or more requirements happen, the pursuit comes to an end (breaking line of sight, creating enough distance, duration of pursuit).
  • If you can create enough distance or break the line of sight, you can avoid the Masked.

What Happens When Masked Gets You

When a Masked comes into direct touch with a player, the player will die. Masked are on contact kills.

  • A Masked will seize a caught player and spit blood out of them, killing them and transforming them into another Masked.
  • If you can hit the Masked with a shovel, stop sign, zap gun, or anything else, you can stop the chase.
  • When a Mask reaches out to seize a player, players with weapons can defend themselves and break free.
  • Right now, when a player survives from a masked attack after the initial grab, their camera angle may freeze. Moreover, they could be left with a red tint on their screen.
  • The red tint only goes away upon death, and the camera angle freeze lasts until the end of the round.

Masked will always wear the decoy suit when they naturally spawn, but they will inherit the suit of a player they have killed.

It might be a good idea to have your crew wear matching suits to distinguish between players and Masked, such as the green suit, pajama suit, or hazard suit.

In the event that a Masked finds their way to the ship via teleportation or wandering, the player on ship duty should have a shovel or other self-defense tool on hand.

The Inverse Teleporter has no effect on Masked. But the Masked can still teleport to the ship by using the Teleporter.

If you place the teleporter close to the door, this will give a player on ship duty more time to react in the event that a Mimic comes inside the ship.

The crew’s chances of survival will increase if they can communicate the presence of Masked by using a Signal Translator or Walkie Talkies.

If a Masked is teleported onto the ship, eliminate them immediately. If they are not armed, entice them outside and run away.

Things To Keep In Mind

  • Masked can climb ladders far more quickly than players can.
  • Masked people have the occasional burst of speed.
  • Masked will extend their arms in the direction of a player when they are near.
  • Even when they are not pursuing a player, masked can enter and exit the facility.
  • On the ship’s radar, players who have been killed and turned into masks appear as friendly players and can take the place of the original player as the target.
  • They cannot be picked up because they are handled like the corpses of enemies.
  • Flashbangs keep Masked from attacking, but they still have movement ability.

What To Do When Dealing With Masked

Take it slow and keep an eye on your back if you think Masked is out of control.

  • Do not trust the idle or moving silhouette of a player. Request a spoken response, an action, or a face-to-face presentation. The only ways Masked can express emotion are by laughing or crying in line with the mask the previous player wore.
  • Flooding has no effect on masks, so they can run or walk at regular speed in the water. When attempting to flee from them, crossing water can prove to be detrimental.
  • It is highly advised that you depart right away if two or more members of your crew have been turned into Masked people. Unless you are able to neutralize them.
