Lost Ark: Caliligos Guardian Raid Guide

Lost Ark continues to be updated and supported as they add a new Guardian Raid under the name of Caliligos. Caliligos is the master of lightning and a fearsome foe to face. This large, draconic being commands blue thunderbolts and will not hesitate to strike you and submit you to his rule. Sounds like a swell guy, huh? Well, he’s actually not all that nice. But don’t worry, as this guide will focus on helping you defeat Caliligos in combat. If you are trying to complete the Caliligos Guardian Raid, then this guide for you.

Before you can even fight this raid, you have to make sure that you have the appropriate level for this raid, which is 1490. If you are, then you are eligible to fight Caliligos. When you do fight in the raid, you will soon find out that Caliligos moves a lot more compared to other Guardian Raids, and that his motions are very dynamic.

This can be very annoying and difficult to deal with, as other players have also mentioned the same thing when fighting Caliligos. Combine that with AoE attacks that can shock you and most likely stun you, fighting Caliligos is going to be hard to do.

One of the key strategies to do in this raid is to use Battle Items, which, surprisingly, a lot of people don’t take advantage of. In KR, number one normally uses one Flare and two Pheromone Bombs. Two to four normally would go for two Disruption Bombs and two Whirlwind Grenades when the party stagger is getting too much.

Regarding the total phases, Caliligos has three overall phases, and each phase will bring out all of Caliligos’ patterns. Some patterns may even be enhanced. Phase 2 and Phase 3 have a major gimmick that will make the fight much more difficult.

In Phase 1, Caliligos will do these attacks:

  • Jump – Jumps high and slams into the ground, doing AoE damage.
  • Pound – Pounces forward and pounds whoever is in the way.
  • Front Strike – Flies up a few feet and slams the ground in front of it.
  • Rush – Rushes forward and will damage anyone standing in the way.
  • Jump Pound – Jumps high and pounds the ground in front of it.
  • Backstep – Steps back away from the fight to avoid damage.
  • Phase 2 Transition – Caliligos will summon an AoE lightning attack to strike the ground around it, then flies away.

When the animation is complete, whoever is number one must throw the Pheromone Bomb at Caliligos.

In Phase 2, you will be attacked with these:

  • Blue Shock Debuff – If you get hit with the lightning attacks, you will be inflicted with the Shock Debuff. If you get five stacks of this debuff, you will be shocked for a few seconds, dealing damage over time.
  • Tail Swipe – Caliligos will swipe its tail to the front of it.
  • Retaliation – Caliligos will curl itself and deal lightning damage around it. You have to stand near it and do not attack it. Otherwise, Caliligos will do a spinning attack that damages anyone standing near it.
  • Enhanced Backstep – Same as the original Backstep, but Caliligos will rain down lightning in front of it as it backs away.
  • Lightning and Strike Down – Caliligos will fly up and lightning will strike around the area, except under Caliligos. Once the attack is done, it will then prepare to slam into the ground, so you have to get out of under it after the lightning is gone.
  • Enhanced Front Strike – Caliligos will fly up and summon lightning to strike the area in front of it.
  • Enhanced Jump Pound – Caliligos will jump up and pound the ground several times.
  • Stagger, Counter, and Disruption – This is the first major gimmick of the raid. Caliligos will hold its hand up high for five seconds. During that time, you must stagger it before five seconds. Once the stagger is complete, you have to counter immediately, as you only have a one second window. Once you successfully counter, then you can destroy its horn. At this point, two to four must throw Disruption Bombs and use Disruption Skills. Failing any of the steps will force you to redo several attacks before it does the gimmick again, as you cannot continue to the next phase.
  • White Orbs – There will be five White Orbs that will spawn together randomly. Each player must destroy only five of these, as destroying more than five will cause massive bleed damage that can kill you. If you only destroy five, you will be given a massive damage buff and cooldown reduction. If any one of the orbs reaches the boss, then you will have to redo the Stagger, Counter, and Disruption gimmick again.
  • Blue Orbs – These orbs provide immunity from the shock debuff for 30 seconds. However, if you have already got the White Orbs buffs, then you cannot get the buff from the Blue Orbs.
  • Phase 3 Transition – Caliligos will burst energy around it. After getting away from the energy burst, number one will throw the second Pheromone Bomb.

Once you hit Phase 3, the boss will get harder to fight when doing these attacks and patterns:

  • Yellow Shock Debuff – Same as the Blue Shock Debuff: if you get hit with the lightning, you will get the debuff. If it stacks, you will get damage over time. However, the new addition here is that a big yellow orb will spawn in. Destroy in 10 seconds, because if you fail to do so, it is a guaranteed raid wipe (meaning the whole party dies).
  • Enhanced Tail Swipe – Same as Tail Swipe, but this time lightning comes out of the tail, dealing more damage.
  • Sonic – Caliligos will dash at the players at high speed. It will do this several times at random players.
  • Energy Blast – Caliligos will shoot an energy blast out of its mouth and to the ground. If hit with the blast or the AoE attack, the damage is large. However, you can counter it.
  • Stagger, Counter, and Disruption – This is the second major gimmick of the raid. It goes through the same process as the Phase 2 major gimmick.

The boss is exceptionally hard, but without the help of Memorizer 92, we would not be able to get the necessary information to help defeat this Guardian Raid. If you want to learn more and get an in depth explanation, visit Memorizer 92’s video here: [Lost Ark] Caliligos Guardian Raid Guide.
