If you are a Monster Hunter lover, well you definitely know the Sakura Slash and how useful it is. The new skill Sacred Sheathe was recently added too. Let’s see how you can build a strategy for them to work together and if they can balance themself out.

Sacred Sheathe & Sakura Slash | Long Sword Guide – MHR Sunbreak

Sakura Slash is one of those things that is making a popular debut coming back in action and alive. It was in the base game but it is very very useful and still very active even today. The best and biggest usage of it is that it will be building your meter with every hit that hits a monster.

The midrange effect is also very useful and comes in handy when dealing with bigger monsters. Basically, it’s the best because of the ability to be able to hit a target without getting hit back.

You can use this Switch Skill loadout list:

You can mix it up by implementing the Special Sheathe Combo on 3, and the Soaring Kick on 4.

The downside is that it does have a longer cooldown which for some people is a big letdown. You will need to make sure to use a Wirebug while fighting a monster that grants cooldown reductions.

But you need Sakura Slash in order to be able to use the Sacred Sheathe. This is a new long sword skill that has a lot of pros, but at the same time a lot of cons too.

Pros:

  • It takes all of your spirit gauge, or whatever gauge you have, and turns it into a very big damaging move
  • Make sure you will lock in your targets so you’re not going to miss them. This is a pro too because you’ll be dealing a lot of damage only to 1 enemy at a time
  • Very big damage when charged fully. Extremely big damage
  • It has a lot of counters
  • Builds the gauge bar very very quickly

Cons:

  • Uses gauges very quickly, for example on a simple counter you’ll use a full 1 gauge

When playing with the Sacred Sheathe your goal will be to charge up and get a massive hit on monsters. Sometimes this can result in a monster hitting you, so it comes at a risk, so what you want to do is not charge it fully.

If you have enough meter built-up (which you will), you can use it on the monster, and then use its skills again to build it back up. It works perfectly balanced.

The cool thing about the Sakura Slash is that you can move around. When you’re planning to attack or charge it up, the weapon will not keep you in place like many other weapons. Repositioning is key and comes in very useful in any strategy that you come up with.
