In the last major quest available in Nightingale while still in Early Access, Nellie Bly will require you to bring her some items. None of them are too easy to find, and the Automaton Charm Oil is no different. So, if you’re scratching your head wondering how to get Automaton Charm Oil, look no further!

How To Get Automaton Charm Oil

The first thing you need to know is where to get Automaton Charm Oil. As the name suggests, it drops from an Automaton after it’s been defeated. Not just any, however: we’re specifically looking for an Automaton Bishop.

Chess has never been so frightening.

It’s worth noting that these are not the Fabled Automatons you’ll find in the Sites of Power. While those are bosses and much more difficult to kill, the regular Automatons are Biome-specific enemies.

To find them, you’ll need a Desert Biome Card. For the Realm Cards, you’ll need an Astrolabe, Provisioner, Herbarium, Gloom, or Hunt Card. Any of these Desert Realms will have Automatons running wild. Now, you just have to find a Bishop!

As a good rule of thumb, if you’re placing different cards into a portal, check the NPC & Creatures tab on the right. This will give you a list of every Creature found in the Realm. It’ll save you from going to the wrong Realm to find something!

Apparently, the Automatons aren’t worried about getting sand in their gears.

Once you’ve searched around and found yourself an Automaton Bishop, you just have to fight it! These enemies shouldn’t be too difficult, so long as you focus on the central orb. This is its weak spot, so keep your attacks centred on its chest, and you should defeat it in no time. After defeating it, pick up the Automaton Charm Oil it drops, and there you have it!

Are you now looking for the Elder Eoten Heart for Nellie and you’re completing Ludivine’s Quests? Here’s our guide to getting Fabled Meat!
