Monster Hunter Sunbreak brought with it so many upgrades and changes to the weapons that people are learning of new moves and new metas are getting created. In this guide we will be talking about the Aerial Insect Glaive and if it is any good.
Aerial Insect Glaive Guide – Monster Hunter Sunbreak
The Kinsect slash will be the heart of your playstyle, assuming you’re a user of the Insect Glaive. This is the new switch skill that players can use. It replaces Jumping and Advancing Slash. Kinsect is a technique that you can use only while being mid-air.
It will thrust you forward and throw you at your target. If you manage to connect your Kinsect slash with your target, well then you’ll be able to perform a vaulting dance where you’ll absorb an extract. This Vaulting dance is amazing. You’ll be basically flying and attacking monsters.
The extract that you get, corresponds to the part of the monster’s body that you’ve hit. While doing this, you can also dash at the end for more mobility. Using this skill is excellent when it comes to repositioning yourself.
You can do a full turn around the monster and stay in the air doing these skills for a maximum of 3 times. Follow up with the Diving Wyvern to finish it off. You will be able to have the Enhanced Insect Spiker too. This will get you on the ground quickly and do a lot of damage.
Overall use the Kinsect slash to get the yellow and white extracts, then get the red one, and go for a full attack combo.
The weakness is that if you’ve started with a combo and with a Kinsect slash, you’ll be stuck with that extract until you go down to the ground. Once you go down, only then are you able to change something up. That’s where the new skill comes as a big help – Kinsect Glide.
This skill sends out a kinsect and then uses a wire bug for making a quick jump. Like the Kinsect Slash, the GLide will also only go to where you point your reticle. This means that you can use it as a damage machine, or as a getting away tool when necessary.
What part of the body of the monster you’ve hit, you’ll get that kind of extract again here. Unlike the Slash, you can get any extract at any time, so you’re not just locked to one. Kinsect Glide is amazing to use, the only weakness is that it’s a little harder to use and guide.
The best kind of a Kinsect that you can use and what we’d advise – is the Blunt Assist Dual Colour Defense Kinsect.
It is the best way to open an encounter and a fight with any monster. It pairs very well with this specific playstyle too.
You can target the monster’s body and get white extract instantly. This will make you immune to roars. This means that while the monster is doing its roar, you can get the red extract from hitting its head. You can finish off with a Diving Wyvern before the roar even gets done. Amazing strategy. Don’t forget, always get 3 chargers before you do your Diving Wyvern.
Something that Insect Glaive users have trouble with, is the camera settings. You must have the Camera Speed to Very High. Make the Gunner Reticle speed also at Very Fast.
Huge thank you and big credit goes to Ratatoskr. He goes deep into detail about all of these settings as he is a long-time user of the Insect Glaive. You can check him out here.
