Katana Complete Guide – Monster Hunter Sunbreak

Before we start, we have to point out the new changes first. Iai Slash suffered a nerf with a 50% decrease in damage, and Helm Breaker suffered a nerf with a 25% decrease as well. Not only did it get nerfed for damage, but the Wirebug cooldown for Helm Breaker has an increased 35% nerf.

But with nerfs, there are buffs. Sakura Slash received a damage buff, similar to the values Iai Slash saw pre-nerf. Spirit Blade combo also saw an increase in damage with the buff.

With the changes out of the way, we can go into what you can do now with the Longsword, such as the Sacred Sheathe combo. With this move, you can do increasingly powerful attacks depending on the charge. It is also very maneuverable, allowing you to dash away while performing Sacred Sheathe.

During Sacred Sheathe, you are blessed with Hyper Armor. This will allow you to tank through enemy attacks that normally knock you back. However, this is very risky as you will take major damage from doing said action as you can’t guard. You can dash away in Sacred Sheathe, but only if you make it in time.

You can also counter with Sacred Sheathe with two ways to do so. If you’re in the middle of sheathing your sword and someone attacks you, you immediately perform a counter attack. This is the automatic counter. The manual counter needs you to release the sheathe button before you get hit to perform the manual counter.

The next addition is the Tempered Spirit Blade. This skill is essentially a counter attack and it doesn’t do a lot of damage, but the recovery speed for the Wirebug Gauge is very fast, so use this when you need to get your Wirebug Gauge up quick.

The Harvest Moon skill is essentially a buff for you. Performing Harvest Moon casts the Ironsilk ring around you and your enemy. If you’re within the ring, your Spirit Gauge won’t deplete and any counter attack you perform will have additional hits.

However, there is a catch to this. If you touch the ring, it will knock you back. Touching it again will destroy the ring and knock you back, which will remove any buff on you. This can also happen if you sheathe your weapon.

He's also a huge fan of superhero media like Marvel and DC, so he's practically played games like Spider-Man and the Batman Arkham games. He's also into multiplayer games that strike his fancy, specifically games like Call of Duty and Fortnite. Most especially Fortnite since he can play as different Marvel and DC characters in a battle royale against other famous and iconic characters.
