Steam has an amazing feature that allows you to chat and play games with your friends conveniently. However, sometimes you just want to play a game in peace and avoid any invites from your friends. Well, if that is the case, here is a guide on how you can appear offline on Steam!
How to appear Offline — Steam
Start by launching your Steam client and clicking on the Store home page.
Go to the lower-right corner and you will see a button that says Friends & Chat. Click on that button to open up your friends list on Steam.
The friends list menu will pop up and you have to go to your profile name and select the drop-down button. Different status choices will appear: Online, Away, Invisible, Offline and Do not Disturb.
What you want here is the Invisible status. This status will make you appear offline to others, but you can still chat with your friends.
On the other hand, if you choose Offline, it will sign you out of the Friends and Chat menu. Clicking on the Do not Disturb option will disable all the chat notifications from Steam.
You can also edit your profile name on this tab if you want to. And there you have it, that is how you can appear Invisible to your friends and disable chat notifications.
