The PlayStation 5 is the latest next-generation gaming console offered by Sony. Aside from being a powerful console, it also serves as one of the best media streaming devices. Music is an important feature that all gamers respect. During gaming, listening to your curated playlist provides a depth of immersion in whatever it is that you are doing. In some cases, however, your Spotify might stop working. This guide will focus on how to resolve that issue.

How to Fix Spotify

This guide is divided into multiple parts, with each one focusing on every method you can try to make Spotify work again. Let’s take a closer look at all the solutions you can try!

Update Spotify

Since Spotify is a streaming service, most of the time, the issue lies in the application being outdated. To check if your Spotify app is up to date, simply go into the Media section on your PlayStation.

Spotify sub menu

Inside the media section, select the Spotify icon. Once selected, press the Options button on your Dualsense Controller. This will open up a sub-menu with different options. Select the Check for Update option to see if there is an available update for the application.

Checking for update

If you’ve updated your application, you will receive the following message above indicating that you have the latest version. However, if there is an update, it will automatically get queued in your Downloads section. You can select the Download section by pressing the PS button on your controller. Then go down to the Downloads/Uploads menu.

Restart the Console

If you’ve updated your Spotify, but the application still doesn’t seem to work. Then you might want to consider restarting your console. To do this, press the PS button on your controller. Then go down to the bottom menu and go to the extreme right. Select the Power button to open the sub-menu.

Restarting console

Select the Restart PS5 option and wait for your console to restart. In many cases, restarting simply clears up the cache allowing such issues to be fixed. Another possible fix is to turn off your console and unplug the power cable from the outlet. Wait for some time before plugging it back in and starting up the console.

Delete and Reinstall

If the two methods did not fix Spotify for you, then it may be time to install the application again. Go into the Media section and select the Spotify app as you did before. Press the Options button on your controller to open the sub-menu. Select the Delete option and confirm it to remove the application from your system.

Searching for application

After deleting the application select the Search icon as shown in the image above. Inside the search menu, go to the Media tab and search for Spotify. The Spotify application should pop up, and all you need to do is to install it once again.

If none of the above options work, then your final shot at solving the problem is to relink your Sony account to your Spotify account. To do this, head into the console settings. Inside the setting choose the Users and Accounts options. Once inside this menu, go to the Linked Services tab to check all the applications linked to your account.

Linking Spotify to account again

There should be a Spotify option inside this tab. Select this option and try to unlink your account and link it once again. When doing this, accept any permission required since they may be causing problems on your console.
