Monster Hunter Sunbreak is an expansion to Monster Hunter Rise, which is an action role-playing game that features a riveting gameplay experience of hunting down monsters and taking them down to either sell their carcass or turn them into gear. In the game, you can choose several weapons to help you slay monsters faster, such as the Longsword. With the Longsword comes an amazing skill called Sacred Sheath, which is an upcoming skill in the Sunbreak expansion.

Complete Guide To Sacred Sheath – Monster Hunter Sunbreak

The Sacred Sheathe combo is a two-stage attack that you can use either to counter an enemy attack, or to deal massive damage by harnessing your Spirit Gauge.

There are three stages of the Sacred Sheath attack. The first stage is the Level 1 Charge, where the player will sheathe the blade and immediately bring it back out for a powerful slash.

The second stage, Level 2 Charge, sees the player glow yellow before unleashing a deadly spin attack.

Finally, Level 3 Charge sees the player glow a light red glow before unleashing a devastating combo which ends in the player slamming the blade down on the ground.

The Sacred Sheath is not just a charge attack, and it actually has some depth in it. For example, once you finish sheathing the blade, you can release the sheath input to begin the Sacred Sheath combo. This attack works best at max charge, as the attack takes 5.15 seconds to complete.

If you were to do the combo with zero Quick Sheathe and zero Focus, you will complete the attack in 6.48 seconds, which in itself isn’t bad, but the animations of sheathing and unleashing the sword leave you wide open to attacks.

How to Use the Sacred Sheath – Monster Hunter Sunbreak

Another trick you can use when sheathing your weapons is avoiding enemy attacks by pressing the roll button in a direction. This will allow your character to dash away while still sheathed.

Another great thing about the Sacred Sheathe is that you have Hyper Armor. For those who don’t know, Hyper Armor is essentially what happens when an unstoppable force meets an immovable object. You continue to do your combo and deal damage to your enemy, but you yourself take damage as well. You are still able to complete your combo at the cost of your health.

Using the Sacred Sheathe to counter is quite easy. While in the middle of the sheathing animation, if you get attacked, you can immediately counter the attack by unsheathing the blade. If you manually release the sheathing animation just as you are attacked, you can trigger a Guardpoint.

Counters are automatic, but they do consume Spirit Gauge. However, a successful Guardpoint can bring back some of the Spirit Gauge. It is still advised to be careful and not drain your Spirit Gauge with counters.

If you do a successful Guardpoint, you will be able to proc additional hits from Harvest Moon. You can do the same thing with a counter, but it is less efficient and much more dangerous.

Utilizing Guardpoint with the Sacred Sheathe is a must-do when using this ability. The timing must be mastered, and it can take a while to get used to. But sooner or later, your hands will be able to do Guardpoints with no problem.
