At some point in Nightingale, you are going to need to complete a quest named Search for the Lawman. This quest requires you to travel to a realm and find the lawman to have a quick talk with him. Luckily, doing this will be pretty easy, but you will have to finish some prerequisites first.
Let’s see how you are going to find the lawman and complete the Search for the Lawman quest in Nightingale.
Search For The Lawman Quest
In order to complete the Search for the Lawman quest, all you need to do is complete two objectives. More information will be provided in the remainder of our guide, but for now, let’s take a look at what those objectives are.
- Travel to a Forest Provisioner Realm.
- Talk to the Lawman.
Travel to a Forest of Provisioner Realm
The first thing you should do to find the Lawman is travel to a Forest Provisioner realm. In order to do this, you should get your Gear score to at least 40.

Once you get your gear score to 40, you are going to need three ingredients to craft a Provisioner card:
- 1 Paper (Wood)
- 1 Alchemical Ink (Zinc)
- 25 Essence Dust
You can obtain the alchemical ink from the Simple Mortar Station. For that, you will require 55 essence dusts. If you would like to learn more about this ingredient and want to know what use you can make of it, make sure to check out our guide on how to get Alchemical Ink as well.
As for the Forest Card, we’ve included in this guide – make sure to check it out! To some things up, here are the materials:
- Paper: To craft paper, you will want to use the Simple Saw Table and craft it with 2 Wood Bundles. For more detailed steps, take a look at this Paper Guide.
- Ink: To get Ink, you will need to first obtain an item called the Refined Pigment from the Simple Mortar Station. There are many materials you can use to create Refined Pigments, such as Raw Berries and Mushrooms. For more information, see this Refined Pigment Guide!
Crafting a Crude Portal
After obtaining your provisioner card, you will obviously need to have a crude portal to travel to the realm. If you are not sure how to do that, let’s take a quick look at what you need to do.
- 10 Lumber
- 7 Ingot
- 3 Wire
- 1 Synchronous Lotus

Talk to the Lawman
Now that you have everything to travel to a Forest Provisioner Realm, you should find the lawman to complete your quest.
Upon entering the realm, open your map and see where Bass Reeves is. The map will be different for each player, so you will need to locate it yourself.
Go to Bass Reeves’ location and have a small talk with him; this is the Lawman you are looking for. Check out the options below to see the dialogue options to choose from.
- Pardon me, sir. Are you lost as well?
- I’m rather green in the Realms. Merely seeking passage back to Earth.
- Someone told me a lawman was roaming these parts.
- (Lie) I didn’t catch their name.
- Foe, I’m afraid. A columnist from the Sunday Courier is investigating you.
- That’s very kind of you (Turn in).
