How to Get the Greatsword in V Rising
First, in order to get the Greatsword, you will need to have the crafting recipe. This crafting recipe can be unlocked after you defeat Tristan the Vampire Hunter. This boss is a level 44 V Blood Carrier Boss that you can commonly find in the border of Farbane Woods and the Dunley Farmlands.
In the V Blood Menu, select Tristan the Vampire Hunter and then ‘Track Blood’ to start finding the boss.
How to Defeat Tristan – The Vampire Hunter
To defeat Tristan, the most important factor for you to consider is your gear. You should be able to defeat the boss quite easily as you have your Iron-tier equipment recipes unlocked. In order to get the recipes for Iron and Iron Equipment, you need to defeat Quincey the Bandit King.
Do anything you can do to make your level equal to him or higher, just to make your experience easier. However, you may still want to look at these tips we are going to give you.
- Chaos Volley is easier to land because the boss does not move around as much and is quite stationary. This can also work for any spells or abilities that require aiming.
- You also want to protect yourself from the boss. Consider taking the Veil of Frost to dash around and also shield yourself for 125% of your spell power. The spell also enhances your next primary attack after casting.
- Even though the boss does not have lots of audio cues for you to predict his moves, he winds up his attacks very slowly and this process can be noticed. As a result, you can utilize this to dodge, or use your abilities accordingly.
- Consider using the Ward of the Damned Spell. This will allow you to cast a barrier to protect yourself from his shots, but also spawning skeletons for each absorbed attack. These skeletons can help distract the boss and give you a much easier time. Whenever he pulls out his crossbow, simply stands still and it will automatically land on your barrier.
On defeating the boss, interact with him to extract V Blood and obtain your Greatsword Crafting Recipe. With this recipe unlocked, you can go to the Smithy and craft it for 16 Iron Ingots and 12 Planks. At this point of the game, these items are quite easy to find and you may already have the needed materials already.
What You Need to Know About the Greatsword
Even though the Greatsword has a limited range, it has a very wide swing range. This means you can hit multiple enemies at the same time and still deal decent damage.
Your primary attack forces your character to swing the Greatsword in a cone area in front of you, dealing damage to enemies hit.
Your first ability, by pressing Q, your character will charge forward and swing your great sword upward. This deals 150% physical damage in an area and launches enemies into the air for 0.75s. ‘Great Cleaver’ has a cooldown of 8 seconds and an extremely short cast time of 0.4 seconds. This means you can deal damage and make sure you land all your attacks without having to worry about them missing.
Your second ability ‘Death from Above’ makes you leap into the air and descend upon your foes. On impact, you deal 100% of your physical damage in an area.
The Greatsword in V Rising is a solid weapon for PVE content, with it you can deal both decent AoE and single target damage. This weapon can be a great fit for you in multiple scenarios and can be a flexible choice! That is all the information you need to obtain the weapon and what you need to keep in mind before you decide to use it.
