The introduction of the Gloomrot update in V Rising has brought new content in the form of items, bosses, and location overhauls. This guide will help you take on one of the new bosses, Maja the Dark Savant.
Maja the Dark Savant Boss Guide
This guide will be divided into three parts. The first part will focus on the boss’s location and drops, the second on the general preparation required before taking on the boss, and the third on defeating the Dark Savant.
Location and Drops
Maja the Dark Savant can be found in the Northeast of Dunley Farmlands in the Forbidden Tower.
She is a level 47 boss, and defeating her unlocks the Veil of Illusion Spell, the Study structure, and the recipe for crafting Scrolls.
General Preparation
Before taking on Maja, we recommend having Vermin Salve, Brew of Ferocity, and Enchanted Brew in your inventory.
The Vermin Salve allows for health regeneration during the fight. The Brew of Ferocity and Enchanted Brew increase physical and spell power.
Spells-wise, we recommend using Veil of Blood to allow you to dash and avoid damage.
Secondly, using the Chaos Volley spell is recommended for distance engagement and dealing high damage.
Lastly, you want to have the Phantom Aegis spell for defensive purposes, as this will allow you to negate damage occasionally.
Defeating Maja the Dark Savant
The main strategy that you want to employ is the use of range based attacks. For this the Chaos Valley spell is recommended. Additionally, you should focus on the minions that she spawns as occasionally Maja will use them to heal herself.
The main attack that she uses is these paper-based beams. Sometimes they will be evenly spaced giving you an opportunity to squeeze between them to avoid damage.
However, at times no space will be between the individual beams so at this stage use the Phantom Aegis spell to avoid damage.
Focusing on the minions is also an integral part of this battle since at times she will stop and start drawing one of the alive minions towards herself for healing. It is important to kill this minion otherwise she will gain health causing the fight to drag on.
Finally, when Maja is at five percent of her initial health she will start to spawn minions at a much faster rate. At this point just focus on the boss instead of the minions as her health is already quite low.
Once she is down, extract the blood from her and you are done with this fight.
Maja the Dark Savant is one of the new bosses introduced in V Rising. As long as you follow this guide, you shouldn’t have an issue dealing with her. Let us know in the comments what you thought of this boss fight.
