In this article, I will show you the path you need to take, in order to find The Winged Horror. I will also teach you some techniques using your skills to defeat this boss and the reward it will drop. Reminder, this is best done in the PvE server.
The Winged Horror Guide
This boss ain’t to be messed with. It may look like your typical main quest boss, but it can bring you to a world of pain. The Winged Horror is a Level 78 boss, this means you need to be at least on the same level as he is, or even higher. I highly recommend you go higher than his level. But first, you need to find the location. It packs a lot of heavy damage skills, most of which are AoE skills.
Here are a few things that we will be focusing on to defeat the boss. Keep in mind that The Winged Horror is one of the end-game bosses. I suggest you gear yourself up to the max! Try to reach level 78 or even higher. The damage he can do is no joke.
- The location of the boss – To defeat the enemy, you shall find him first. I will show you the path where he slumbers, waiting for a worthy foe.
- Attack modes of the boss – Fight or flight? Well, the answer is Fight! I will show you his different attack moves. Know your enemy.
- Gear yourself up – Nothing beats the best, especially when properly equipped with the best weapon and armor in the land.
- Unleash Hell with your Abilities – Show your enemy no mercy with your Vampiric powers. I will list a few abilities that can come in handy for this battle.
The Location of The Winged Horror
- First, go to the region of the Farbane Woods. His exact location is on top of a mountain found in Dreaded Peak, as shown in the picture below.
- Next, go to the spot that I have highlighted on the map. That is the closes position to the boss. From there you need to transform into a Bat to reach the peak of the mountain.
- If don’t have the Bat Form Transformation ability yet, you need to finish the quest where you need to defeat the Nightmarshal Styx the Sunderer.
- Once you’re at the top, take a breather and attack if prepared. You can unleash hell on your first move since the boss is stationary momentarily until provoked.
Different Attacks of The Winged Horror
This boss has different attacks that can deal heavy damage to the player. It ranges from aerial attacks to ground attacks, and a combination of both. However, some of its AoE attacks can be dodged easily if you pay attention to the pattern. I will show you the list of attacks and how to counter/dodge it.
- Fire Breath Attack – This attack is aerial and can be dodged easily. He will hover above and will attack the player by breathing fire to the ground which will create small fireballs that will hit randomly. Creating a pit of fire that will surround the area.
- Charge attack – If he stops momentarily, that means his charging up. Think fast on what to do. I suggest that you dash either left or right that moment he dashes towards you. This can deal heavy damage.
- The volley of Fireballs – Now this attack can be aerial and ground. He will sometimes hover above you and you will see red circles on the ground. That will indicate where the fireballs will drop. For its ground version, the boss will step back and use its wings or mouth to release a volley of fireballs toward you.
- Ice Attack – The ice attack has two variations. First is the ice projectiles that split into more projectiles. While the other one is an AoE ice spikes attack that deals heavy damage. You can dodge the AoE attack by looking at the ground and avoiding the red circle. For the ice projectiles, I highly suggest not to corner yourself since it spreads wide enough to hit you.
Best Weapon & Armor To Use Against The Winged Horror
Any player who will go up against any boss requires to have at least a weapon and armor. Now the best possible way to survive the battle between you and The Winged Horror is ranged attacks. While maintaining range against your enemy, you will need attack speed and movement speed as well. I will show you the list of weapons and armor set that is best used for this boss fight.
- Crossbow – V Rising players love to use melee weapons and vampire skills. But for this fight, you might want to change your arsenal. Using the Crossbow gives you space to damage the boss and use multishot abilities.
- Merciless Hollowfang Armor Set – This is the ideal armor when you use the Crossbow. It provides the player +204 in max health, +4% in movement speed, and +4% in attack speed.
Best Skills / Abilities Against The Winged Horror
Each set of skills and abilities has different uses and capabilities. It changes the outcome of the battle when it is used properly. For this boss fight we will focus on healing and lifesteal. Also, with the use of the Crossbow, we can use AoE attacks as well.
- Chaos Volley – This will lunch 5 projectiles in the air that will land on the enemy. This is good against Winged Terror since the boss also uses range attacks. The skill also deals a lot of damage.
- Rouge Blood – This blood type will give you an 8% – 15% movement speed bonus. Also, it provides a 10% – 20% Critical strike chance for that extra damage with your Crossbow and Chaos Folley.
- Power Surge – Gives you a shield based on your spell power. It also provides you a bonus of 25% in Movement Speed and Attack speed.
- Purgatory – This ability will help you heal constantly during the battle.

Also, it will give the players the Soul Shard and the Ice Whirlwind. As I mentioned earlier, this is best done while you’re in the PvE servers. But you can still do this under any PvP servers as well.
