V Rising: Ultimate Jewels Guide | Gloomrot

Yer a wizard, vampire!

The release of Gloomrot for V Rising marks the first major expansion for the game since its launch. With the introduction of the Jewels, many players might be confused about how to utilize this mechanic to their advantage. This guide will provide you with all the information necessary to get started with Jewels.

Ultimate Jewels Guide | Gloomrot

The first question that would naturally come to any player’s mind is, what exactly are jewels? To answer that question in simple words, Jewels are upgrades for your spells; they provide you with bonus stats that the spells usually do not have.

How to Get Jewels?

There are three possible methods to obtain jewels in V Rising:

Level Based Drops

The first method involves random drops from enemies based on your level:

  • Tier 1: From level 35;
  • Tier 2: From level 50 & 55;
  • Tier 3: Level 62+.

Crafting

The second method is essentially crafting Jewels using a Jewelcrafting table. To do this, you must first unlock the Jewelcrafting table by defeating Raziel the Shepherd. Since he is a level 57 boss, we recommend you are close to that level before taking him on.

Raziel the Shepherd

Raziel can be found in the Dunley Monastery area on the map. However, you will require a Holy Resistance Potion before you take him on since religious areas cause the player to take Holy Radiation damage which can drain health quickly.

Raziel's Location

Once you can access a Jewelcrafting table, you can craft up to Tier 2 Jewels. However, in order to craft Tier 3 Jewels, you will need to defeat Mairwyn, the Elementalist, who is a level 70 boss.

Mairwyn the Elementalist

Mairwyn is located in Emberleaf Grove:

The main resource required for crafting jewels is gems. Raw gems can be found from breaking resource nodes scattered across the map.

Resource Nodes

Both Tier 2 and Tier 3 gems have similar crafting requirements. Tier 2 gems require four iron ingots and four regular gems.

Tier 3 gems, on the other hand, require four Dark Silver Ingots and four Flawless gems.

Another neat mechanic is the ability to discard Jewels that you do not use for raw materials that can be used in making more Jewels. This can be done by using the Devourer, and as a result, you will get back a portion of the materials used in making the Jewels.

Bosses and Chests

Finally, Jewels can be obtained from V Blood Units, essentially the bosses of the game, or from Golden Chests scattered across the map. The latter is almost always guaranteed to contain a jewel making it more reliable than hunting bosses.

Bonuses

Lastly, let’s look at the bonuses the Jewels provide:

  • Tier 1: One bonus stat;
  • Tier 2: Two bonus stats;
  • Tier 3: Three bonus stats.

For instance, let’s look at the Tier 3 Haunted Moon Stone that slots into the Phantom Aegis spell.

Stats on a Tier 3 Jewel

The spell provides an ally with a shield and inflicts Weaken of nearby enemies. With the jewel, the duration of the base spell is increased, and the player on which the spell is casted receives a boost in movement speed.

However, the effect that transforms the spell completely is the last one which allows the player to recast the spell when active to remove the shield from an ally and pull them towards the player. This is a support player’s dream as now allies can be pulled away from danger in difficult boss fights, giving players a chance to regroup.

Pulling ally towards you

Since these jewels’ stats are randomized, the developers have added a mechanic to let players judge how good their rolls are. Simply holding the Left Alt key on the jewel reveals the range of each stat of the jewel giving players a good idea of whether they were blessed with excellent stats.

How to Equip Jewels

Additionally, modifying the spells with different jewels to suit your playstyle is also easy. Simply select the spell that you want to modify, click on edit socket, and after selecting a jewel of your liking, equip it. The best part is that there is no cost for switching between different jewels.

Equipping jewels

Overall, the Jewels provide an excellent way to customize spells. We hope that this guide provides you with the necessary information to get started on Jewels. Do let us know in the comments about your preferred jewels and builds.
