There’s always that one unspoken rule when it comes to playing video games flexible enough to take in mods and it’s that you always have to do a vanilla run first. But this isn’t the first time you’re going to play ARK: Survival Evolved, so we can safely chuck that rule out the window and let it fall into a lava pit.
The next matter is figuring out what mods to use, not everything on the workshop will work together, so downloading and installing everything all at once may not be such a good idea. If you’re looking to start your modding journey today on the PS5 or Xbox, then keep reading the guide below to know which ones to get!
Top 10 Mods For PS5 / Xbox
To begin, go to your mods list on the main menu. Inside the mods list you’ll be able to browse all of the working mods listed along with mods you already have installed.
You can categorize each mod available on the list if you don’t want to see everything all at once. This way you’ll be able to see the most installed mods without having to look for them yourself.
Click on the mod when you’ve made your decision. It’ll take you to another page where you’ll see the word “Install” on the upper right. After all that, you can go to Create or Resume Game to further adjust your mod settings.
Shiny Dino Tracker
Do you like special dinosaurs but don’t like hunting them down? With Shiny Dino Tracker, you’ll be able to track down every target with absolute ease.
It’ll also tell you when your target spawns in the map. Your targets will have increased stats however so be sure that you’re well prepared to take them on when you do.
Crazy’s Crazy Ascended Potions
The mod’s so good the author named it twice! Think of this mod as a helping hand, each potion added will have their own special effect when consumed.
You still have to gather the materials required to make them first along with the potion table that comes with the mod itself. The mod fairly balanced and won’t strain your machine too much since it only adds in a few consumable items.
Stat Implant
Have you ever wondered how much damaged you’ve done to the local fauna? Stat Implants will let you know by tracking your kills, solo-kills, or sniper kills inside of the game. You can even use this in a PVP server if you want to know if you’ve improved over time.
It even tracks your deaths! If you can get back to your body and pick up the implant, it will still track everything you’ve done up to that moment.
Custom Dino Levels
This mod helps you spend less time searching for those elusive high level dinos. It alters dino level distributions and gives you the ability to choose specific level ranges you want to spawn in. Now, you won’t have to worry about waiting forever just to try taming something in the wild.
Arkitect Structures Remastered
Ever tried stacking foundations or other structures but the vanilla game won’t let you? ASR removes that and even adds in more structures you can mess around with while building your base.
You can track all of the new building items added in your crafting menu just by typing “asr.” This allows the brutalist in you to create intimidating structures that oversees the islands day-today operations.
Caves Teleporter
Tried visiting a cave sitting on a cliff covered with ice? Most attempts end up in catastrophic failure, sometimes, you still get the same result even if you’re well prepared. Caves Teleporter removes the hardships of needless trekking with the click of a button.
It will freely teleport you right outside of the caves on the entire island. Quite a useful thing to have if you just want to explore without dying too much.
Another thing you can do is check out our cave locations guide if you feel like this mod breaks the game too much.
Resource Gatherers
Resource gatherers will help you save a little bit of time by gathering resources gradually. This includes difficult resources like black pearls and elements.
To start, craft the Resource Gatherers: Crafter in your crafting menu. This will allow you to make all tiers of gatherers along with all of the resource templates.
Plop a resource gatherer down and place a resource you want inside of it. You can do something else after that and come back to it later when it’s done cooking.
Upgrade Station
Ark has its own way of twisting your arm when it comes to blueprint drops. Getting a decent piece of equipment will take you years before it happens.
The upgrade station will put a stop to all that as long as you have the items needed to make the upgrade possible. This lets you upgrade even the most basic items all the way to Ascendant.
SuperSpyglass / Super Binoculars
Getting extra information from potential tames will be made easier with the SuperSpyglass mod. It’s a simple add-on to the game that gives all sorts of information regarding your target.
All you have to do is have it out while exploring and point it at a specimen that catches your eye. This reduces the amount of visits you make to the wiki just to figure out what you’re dealing with.
Utilities Plus
This mod gives you the ability to have certain items that aren’t normally found on the island. It basically adds a version of many existing items that can be reused to make things less of a hassle for you.
Now, you don’t have to think twice whenever you have to throw a bola. It’ll spawn right back in your hand once it lands in a bush somewhere. The same goes for the other reusable items as well!
