Warlander is a free-to-play hack-and-slash MOBA where teams of players pick classes and fight against the other team. Despite the game only having a handful of classes, there’s enough customization in there to make your character unique.

The game takes on a medieval look with fantastical elements and it features a lot of customization from just your looks to the skills you can have for your chosen class.

In this guide we’ll show you how to play as the Mage, one of the strongest classes in the game, just don’t get hit because a slight breeze can knock you out!

Complete Mage Guide – Warlander

We all know what a mage or wizard is in video games. Spell-slinging characters that deal massive damage, but the moment something sneezes on them they crumble to dust.

They’re glass canons and when rushed or focused down by an enemy they’re quick to fall. Still, they can be a great asset to any team because of their high damage and that’s true in Warlander as well.

Mage Basics

In Warlander the mages follow the trope, which means they’re glass canons. They’re the only class in the game that is fully ranged and they don’t have that much survivability.

What they do have is massive damage to players and to structures. Mages can easily turn the tide of battle, they can also just show up in a fight and get cut down instantly. We’re here to prevent the latter and show you how to play the mage.

When creating a mage make sure that you know what spells are on your loadout since there are a lot of them at the start and even more as you progress the game!

Mage Spells

There are a handful of spells you’ll need to know when playing the mage in Warlander. Some of the spells can be changed up when making your loadouts but every mage has access to the same spells in the game.

Here are all the spells you can get along with how to use them:

  • Magic Arrow: One of your 2 basic attacks, it’s basically finger guns, the game can’t fool us. The mage fires magic out of his fingertips like finger guns. This will be your main way of damaging players.
  • Fireball: Your other basic attack, is much harder to hit than the Magic Arrow due to the fire rate but can work great against structures.

  • Familiar: A floating orb that you can summon for a short amount of time, it fires magic arrows as you attack. You can use it with Fireball to attack both with magic arrow and fireball for a short time.
  • Barrage: Not really a spell but something the mage is automatically equipped with when creating. Alone it’s weak against structures, but when allies join the barrage it can take down structures easily!

  • Wind Trap: A magical mine you place down below you, when an enemy steps on it they get launched away. Great when placed near a cliff!
  • Flash Step: One of the spells that let you run away or close in on an enemy. You basically teleport a short distance, just be careful since if someone’s holding a shield and you flash step into them, you’ll end up in front of them!

  • Lightning: An ability that has a charge-up time when you place it but has a big AOE, knocks enemies down, and even has high damage. Great when there’s a big brawl.
  • Crows: You send crows to a target, momentarily stopping them. Great when you combine it with other offensive spells.

There are more spells out there for you to learn and find out but these are the basic spells you’ll start off with!

Remember, the mage is a force multiplier in the team and can easily destroy anyone or anything, just as long as you don’t get destroyed first!

Many thanks to Sam Pham & Gooshy & Dutchy for showing everyone how to do this, if you need more information on the subject then go check their YouTube video out!
