Rimworld players have a lot to look forward to courtesy of the Anomaly DLC that’s made its way to the game. One of the things that you can do as part of the DLC is take part in Anomalous Research. This is outlined in detail in our Rimworld Anomaly Complete Guide.
However, many players have complained that Research takes way too long when they start it. We completely understand how frustrating this can be. So, in this guide, we will be providing you with various ways in which you can speed up Research. Let’s get into it!
How To Speed Up Research
There are quite a few things that you can do to speed up research in Rimworld. So, we’ll be looking at general ways to speed up research before diving into the one that’s applicable only to the Anomaly DLC.

Clean Indoor Research Room
One way to speed up research in Rimworld is to ensure that your research table is an indoors area. After that, make sure that the room is well lit. All of this will give your research a bonus and increase the speed.
However, one key detail that some players miss out on is ensuring that the research rooms are also clean. A well sterilized room will provide further bonuses to your research speed.

Select Appropriate Scenario
Your starting scenario in Rimworld will also play a key role on your Research Speed.
Consider two scenarios: Crashlanded and Lost Tribe. In the Crashlanded Scenario, your Pawns will have a high tech level. So their Research will be much faster.
On the other hand, in the Lost Tribe scenario your pawns will start off with a research penalty that will make their research speed much slower. So choosing the appropriate scenario can have a big impact on your research speed.
Add More Research Benches
Another way to speed up research is to add more research benches in the room. In this way, you can have multiple Pawns researching different things, allowing you to progress through the research trees much faster.
In the Anomaly DLC especially, you can do both normal and Anomalous research. So having multiple research benches will enable you to do both.
Capture Entities & Perform Rituals (Anomaly DLC only)
Now we’ll be looking at the methods that will boost research speed for the Anomaly DLC only. Starting off, we recommend that you capture Entities and keep them in Holding Platforms.
After that, you can agitate them and by having them nearby Research tables, you will get a bonus to your research. Make sure you have proper defenses though, as there is a chance for them to escape and cause havoc.
You can make use of Rituals to even agitate them for Research bonuses. There might even be some Rituals that can directly impact your Research, although this isn’t confirmed as of yet.
