V Rising 1.0: Best Endgame PVE Axe Build Guide

If it can chop wood, it can chop flesh too.

Axe weapons are one of the best weapon types to focus on in V Rising 1.0, making it relatively easy to get an endgame build that focuses on them. Axes have great innate abilities for dealing with groups of enemies and they even give you some solid mobility. They’re not too shabby when taking on singular targets either, making them a perfect all-rounder weapon type. With the right build, taking on endgame content with an axe will be easy! In this guide, we’ll tell you everything you need to know to have the best Axe build possible for endgame.

Best Endgame PVE Axe Build for V Rising 1.0

Fitting of an endgame build, your first task will be to get unlocks from the Athenaeum structure. You’ll unlock the Athenaeum itself once you defeat the Level 74 V Blood boss, Henry Blackbrew the Doctor. When you’ve unlocked the Athenaeum, craft one and place it within your castle. This will now allow you to use Schematics to unlock Tier 3 blueprints!

You can get Schematics themselves primarily from killing human enemies in the Silverlight Hills and Cursed Forest areas. Alternatively, you can craft them yourself by using the Paper Press. A set of 12 Schematics will require up to 40 Tech Scrap and 16 Scrolls.

The trick is that the Athenaeum only unlocks 1 random blueprint for every 100 Schematics. It might take quite a while to get everything you need, depending on luck. Nonetheless, you should aim to get the following unlocks:

  • Sanguine Axes – Can be crafted at the Anvil after researching. They have, by far, the best damage output out of all Axes currently in the game. You can upgrade them to the Legendary “The Red Twins” at the Ancestral Forge, too.
  • Amulet of the Blademaster – Craft it with the Artisan Table after researching. Primarily increases Spell Power and Weapon Attack Speed. Also has a 10% chance to summon a Lesser Storm Shield on every primary hit, which has a short 10-second cooldown.
  • The entire Grim Knight armor set (Chestguard, Leggings, Boots, and Gloves) – You can craft all pieces at the Tailoring Bench. Equipping the full 4-piece set will increase your Max Health by 100, Physical and Spell Power by 1.2, and your Gear Level by 1.

Unlock, craft, and equip all of these pieces of gear and you’ll be one step closer to having the best possible endgame PvE axe build in V Rising 1.0.

Spells & Jewels

Spells | V Rising 1.0: Best Endgame PVE Axe Build Guide

With your gear all set, it’s time to start picking out your Spells and their Jewels. You’ll obviously want to focus on things that complement the innate abilities of Axe weapons. As such, we recommend the following combinations:

  • Sanguine Coil – This simple projectile is very quick and gets fantastic range. It gives great versatility since its range makes up for Axes’ short range. Also, it gives you great survivability since has lifesteal! Ideally, try to get a Jewel with modifiers to increase charges and range.
  • Power Surge – You will mostly use this Spell as a self-buff, as you get massive speed and physical attack increases. The best Jewel modifier to get for this Spell is the one that provides Shield. It will make this an all-around fantastic buff for offense and defense.
Example of Sanguine Coil being cast
  • Phantom Aegis – This is another self-buff, but a purely defensive one, unlike Power Surge. However, it can also apply Weaken to nearby enemies on top of defending you, so it has some offensive uses too. Pretty much all Jewel modifiers are good for this Spell, so you can choose freely.
  • Veil of Chaos – A must-have if you prefer a more agile playstyle. This dashing Spell will allow you to run up to enemies, dodging their attacks and getting into the ideal range for your Axes. For this build, we recommend Jewel modifiers that buff primary attacks after use.
Power Surge activated

As for your Ultimate Spell, you’re pretty much free to choose any one you wish. Truthfully, they’re all great and they all work well with every build.

As a suggestion, though, Crimson Beam is a solid choice if you’re having trouble deciding. It deals massive Damage Over Time and it also heals you, so it can quickly turn the tide of any battle.

Blood Type Selection

Blood Types | V Rising 1.0: Best Endgame PVE Axe Build Guide

Since you’re focusing on using an Axe weapon, your best choices for Blood Types will be either Brute or Warrior. They are both great for builds reliant on melee weapons and weapon skills.

Brute Blood Type Buffs

Brute is the best choice if you want better survivability. Focusing on Brute Blood’s buffs will give you a strong lifesteal effect on every hit and kill. Additionally, it will boost your physical attack speed and damage, as well as your movement speed.

Warrior Blood Type Buffs

Warrior is better if you want to focus on pure offense. It increases your Physical Power, Weapon Skill cooldown, and damage dealt to enemies that are at full health. However, its only defensive benefits are a random parry chance and 6-12% damage reduction.

We recommend choosing whichever Blood Type works best with the random effects your equipment has. Thankfully, though, both Blood Types are extremely easy to farm due to being from humans.

Of course, don’t forget to unlock and activate all of the Passives in the game, either. They’ll give a fantastic extra boost and they’re a must-have for every build. With all that said, you should now have everything you need to have the best endgame Axe build for PvE in V Rising 1.0. Now it’s time to dive deep into the endgame and take on Dracula himself!
